I bought a composite 6 inch flighting for my gas powered auger 2 years ago and use it to go perch fishing. It is amazing how much weight it saves. i used it at least twice a week all last winter and it worked fine. The only problem I experienced was in late March with almost 3 ft of soft ice when I was drilling, if I did not clean out the hole out frequently enough the shavings would pack in above the flighting and cause the flighting to start bending. The plastic unit worked so well that even though I currently own three 8 inch metal flightings, I am seriously considering purchasing an 8 inch to use for walleye fishing due to the weight saving.
