300 weatherby bullet selection preformance question...
Forgive me if been asked, as i cannot find it searching forum...
Going to be owning my first 300 weatherby mainly becauze of sentimental value. That being said i have had extemely good success with my 300 win mag... with accuracy and... terminal preformance on moose and deer when i switched to a Hornady 200 grain ELD-X bullet.
Now i dont plan on reloading for the weatherby in the near future, but due to availability. Say a guy gets similar accuracy success with 300 bee factory loads in ...
-200 grain Nosler Accubonds
-200 grain Hornady ELD-X
...... id like to hear some personal on game experience with those bullets running 300bee speeds from 100 all the way to long range if there is any to be heard.
Thx in advance

I had some really good luck with 180G Trophy Bonded Bear Claws... obviously the factory Weatherby ammo is as good as it comes but hard to swallow the price

I had good performance using the 180Accubond in a 300RUM, which is just slightly faster with my loads.

Ive had wicked bullet success on moose and just over 500 yards with 200gr eldx in my 300 winnie.. yet blew up like a hamd grenade on a mulie at 60 yards.
Looking forward to reading more as they trickle in
If anything incan find online. The eldx will energy dumo faster than a accubond at high speeds.. but the accubond will hold together better

I have been using the original Nosler 180 gr Solid base for many years and don’t plan on changing until they run out . What ever bullet you use in your 300 win will be the same for you in the 300 Wby in-terms of terminal performance

This^ If you look at the Nosler reloading manual, the 300wby only has 50-100 max fps on the 300wm, in the 180 gr category. So not a huge change in performance with 180’s. Same thing with 200’s.

300 weatherly loads
I found that Federal mag. primers, IMR 7828 powder and a 200 sierra game king printed a 3 shot touching at 100 was golden out of my bedded and blocked fibermark.

Take this for what it’s worth. I’ve never owned a 300wby but a 200 gr ELDX is the most accurate of any bullet I’ve tried in my 300wm. That being said I don’t think the ELDX is nearly as tough as an accubond or partition. I shot a mule buck with the 300wm at 760yards and the largest piece of bullet I could find weighed 15 gr.

I've been running 180 gr partitions in a .300 WBY for 30ish years now. Will never switch. Thought about trying an accubond but why mess with a good thing.
Bought a stack of factory ammo for a new RPM I bought last year. Supplies were limited so have a dozen boxes or so of 140gr interlocks. Killed 2 animals with it so far, 1 shell apiece, but not super impressed with the performance of the bullet. Think I'll bite the proverbial bullet and fork out the cash for a couple boxes of 140gr partitions and load them up.
So yeah, in a 300 bee I'd suggest a 180 partition

I’ve shot probably 3-4 moose with 180 interlocks. I think I found 3 bullets and the cup and core had separated on them all. The moose all died 1 shot each with no tracking required so I guess they work.

I can relate perfectly. But did have a pass through on a moose at over 500 yards

I have had excellent accuracy and terminal performance from 180gr accubonds from both hand loads and factory loads out of my 300 bee's for the past 20yrs.
From a few of the bullets that I have recovered from.shots ranging anywhere from 5-200yds were always intact and mushroomed.
I checked the velocity from the factory loaded 180gr accubonds earlier this year with a magnetospeed v3 after sighting in a new scope and the average velocity recorded was 3257.
I did sight in my west german mark v last yr with 200gr eldx and they shot great but have not taken any game with that round yet.
Don't think you can go wrong with either if it shoots well out of your rifle.

So many factors. What are you hunting? What can you find? What does your rifle like to shoot? What are you willing to pay? Etc… for me, I would start with accubonds as I’ve had good luck with them in a 270wsm and 308. Never used the ELDX but a good friend who does more shooting than I do uses them in his, cough, 6.5creedmoor. Nothing really to back it up but in my mind I think the accubond is a tougher bullet.

My M70 liked 180gr Grand Slams. Moose at 60 yards, whitetail at about 300 yards. They both basically collapsed in their tracks.

Hve you tried the tsx? I've tried both and think the ttsx sheds it's pedals at close range easier than the tsx.

I used the TSX first, then switched to the TTSX. I rarely recover either, so I can't really make a fair comparison. I tried the LRX as well, but in my rifles, the accuracy wasn't quite as good.

I just seemed to find pedals in a couple animals shot with ttsx, still dead within yards as these were broadside shots. Maybe it's rare I don't know. Did you notice any difference on wound channel/damage?
