Years ago, a buddy and I were checked along the S Sask River north of Medicine Hat. Foot access only area, and we hadn’t seen another human being for 3 days! After he came bumping along the 2-track trail we asked him how in ….Tarnation, he knew we were there, and he said his partner was above us, spotting by plane!
He described the immense corner of Alberta, with only the two of them to cover!
With his invitation, we slid our deer into his truck bed, and he gave us a lift back to our truck & campsite - saving us a full day of dragging a big mulie - from the river bottom to the coulee rim!

I had 2 interactions with FW this year on my Elk hunt within 2 days in WMU 527. First I was driving to head out for the afternoon and got stopped on the road and got my license and rifle checked. Pretty young FW but a very nice guy and had a great conversation. The next day one of the guys in our group shot his bull and by the time me and 2 other friends got a out to the site with the quads and tub trailer, a different FW was at the kill site checking the tag and chatting.
Was really great to see. It has been YEARS since I have had any interaction with one.

F&w
Forgot to mention the guy that shot the hawk, also mentioned to me his license was expired. Thought he only needed to buy license one time. I suggested he read a hard copy of the regs.

Yesterday we were headed to my truck, and ran into the same officer, and had another nice chat. Apparently one of the biggest source of violations recently has been trespassing , and some fools are still getting caught for driving around with loaded firearms in a motor vehicle.

Great to know they're putting more feet on the ground out there.

They did a big recruiting class and graduation this summer in LLB. I think because where it was normally done in hinton was being renovated? Not entirely sure, but all summer you could not go to far without seeing loads of FW trucks. Even had yukon, BC, and either sask or mantioba being trained here.
Being stop sucks and always makes the heart beat faster, I have only been checked twice and once was a checkstop, always nice individuals I have dealt with

Late last fall my wife and I were out near Beauvais lake tryin to get pics of the rising full moon It was quite late for some reason, and was very dark out.
On our way back out to the main road, we were surprised by red and blue lights blocking our path. With a minute or two, the second truck showed up. The officer approached my truck and when he saw my wife's camera he said that explains the muzzle flashes i saw from the road. We both had a good laugh, and I said , glad you guys don't only from eight to four. He wished us a good night and was on his way.
