Default Cisterns and Pressure Systems - Educate me

I'm in the unfortunate situation that the well at our summer place is failing. One of the options is to set up a cistern and 'pump' system. Is a pump the right way to go? Or is pressure system a better option. Also, what places are people getting their cisterns from? Very uneducated on this, and well spoiled. We never had issues until now, the well was drilled around 1980.

there is a company in Meeting creek, versa tank, i believe, fibreglass or cement your choice, in the ground or inside your house, where water does not freeze

Something tells me the pump-cistern is the way to go.

Incase your well has a "leak", and the pressure system pushes your water away (into a void) instead of up the bore.

I have had a couple places on cistern. Go with a buried fiberglass tank if you can and a pump/pressure tank inside the house. One suction line to protect from cold and exterior fill is handy when hauling water.

Can you have a cistern that is slowly filled from your well? Pump and pressure tank.
No need to haul water

You can go to peavey mart and buy a plastic tank that goes into a room in your house as a cistern. Pressure system from the well fills the cistern and a jet pump will pump the water in the house. Best to ask a water well service guy what he would recommend.

If you go with a cistern, please put a permanent ladder in it, and secure the lid. We just lost a friend to an accident involving their cistern.

Been on a cistern with City water for 20 years. Never fill your cistern with terrible well water. Just need pump and pressure tank. Real reasonable at Princess auto. Your wife will love you and your coffee will be great.

https://dabpumps.com/en/products/mul...verter/e.sybox

Just went with one of these paired with a fibreglass cistern on a new build. Liking it so far, my plumber sold it to me for same price as a jet pump with pressure tank. He said this is all he has been putting in on acreages recently.

Would be nice to have a pressure system for a couple things, however. The lines stay pressurized in house with a little reduced pressure, but the pump kicks in after 5 or so seconds resulting in full pressure. Results in a glass of water taking a little longer to fill, but having very nice pressure with showers etc.

Phone the closest Aquateck West and have a chat with them. They will help you sort out a proper cistern for your application. They have shops in Lethbridge, Calgary, and Edmonton.

I like a large pressure tank, then your pump lasts much longer, It will not come on every time you fill a glass of water, wash your hands or flush a toilet.
