Default Edmonton Area - Youth Shooting Club Recommendations

Good evening all,

My offspring has shown interest in joining a shooting club for youth and participating in some shooting matches.

Are there any organizations in the Edmonton area that anyone could recommend?

Thanks!

Sherwood Park Fish & Game worked for my kids They both did Mapleseed rifle course and Black Badge handgun. One of them also did a handgun course and he also did a fun shotgun/pistol/rifle tournie + lunch. He won a prize for best under 18 of a plaque and camp axe.

You'll have to stick to sherwood park. CHAS just cancelled their Mapleseed because 80% of the range is shut down due to...good management...

Did Sherwood Park F&G require that you become a member for them to participate? I’ve already got a preferred range out west.

For Mapleseed, Black Badge, handgun lesson, no membership needed.

For the club events like shooting competitions, weekly rimfire & shotgun, etc then yes a membership needed.

A family range membership isn't expensive. You'll spend more on gas, ammo and snacks.

If you’re interested in leading a shooting sports project, your local 4-H club would probably run one. You could invite another club for a tournament. It would be more work than joining a pre existing club.

Edmonton Gun Club runs a youth trap shooting program all summer. They even have loaner shotguns available if you want to try it without having to buy a gun first.
They also have some very experienced shooters that provide coaching.
