I hate when people go hunting with primitive weapons like slingshots or airguns. Buy a firearm. Have some respect for the animals' suffering, keep it quick and clean or don't do it.

It was quick and clean and it's a legal way to hunt so if you don't like it you are more then welcome to go scroll a different post. This is a hunting forum you'd think that would weed out most of the whiners lol

My first hunting experiences were with a home made sling shot.

On appropriate sized game at appropriate ranges they are every bit as lethal as an appropriate rifle.

I took a lot of game with mine. I even used it after I got my first .22 when I couldn't afford ammo for the rifle. At short range it was every bit as lethal.

Killed a grouse with slingshot. Took couple shots to finally hit.

Should we only take standing shots with a shotgun so as not to risk wounding one on the fly?

Right!? Like every animal is always an instant kill anyways 🙄We do our best to respect the animal and put it out of its misery as fast as possible, not much else one can ask for!

Easy targets maybe, not so easy to kill with a sling shot though.

Body shots do little, head shots are lethal but tricky to make.
Same thing with Hares.

I wouldn't even try one on a Jack, their skull is hard compared to a Hare.

Yeah head shots will be the preferred method, also using a special latex and powerful bands that create more velocity. Alot more then the old wrist rockets back in the day.

I can only imagine.

Back in the day a wrist rocket was high society. We hunted with forked willow branches, strips off an old inner tube and a patch from a worn out moccasin.

We dreamt about wrist rockets with their surgical tubing bands but no one had the money to buy one and the local stores did not carry them.
