Default E-transfer scams

This is new to me so I want to put it out there incase someone else has the same experience. I`m trying to sell a table saw on kijiji. it`s a commercial one and worth over $4000. I have it for sale for $2500. The other party said he would give the money by E-transfer. I got the email and it was in French but when I looked at it more closely it was a request for $2500 not a deposit of $2500. If that much money was in my account, $2500 would have been transferred to this Asshat. I had my suspicions and made sure there was no money( less than $10) in the account. so the when I tried to deposit/request the transfer it didn't`t go through.

Another reason to delete any e-mail in French.

Another reason to have automatic deposit set up. If it doesn't go through... it's a scam.

" it was a request for $2500 not a deposit of $2500"

Good catch on your part.
not many would have read it,
had it not being in French catching your attention.

Deposit figuring said item was sold.

Scary

If you get a request are there more steps to complete?
I assume you would click on it then go to your bank to complete?

I've never had one just curious

Thanks for the heads up. PM me as I might be in the market for a table saw.

yes there are more steps but it seems the same as getting a deposit, except when I was about to click on complete it had money coming out of my acct. If someone was to do this quickly you may not catch it and the money is gone.

not sure how automatic setup would work. Would have just gone through with it if I went to my bank acct.?? I will have to contact the bank and see what they say.
