You are absolutely entitled to your opinion that the prices are out of line but I am willing to bet you would have no trouble accepting those prices if you sold. Since those are in fact the current prices and anything in the 500 or less range is going to be a real beater these days, the decision is do I buy a used Savage or a new Baikal or the Savage 42, new $700 and in my opinion not near the gun the 24 is, or similar combo guns. I try not to pass opinions on what guns SHOULD be worth, I just work off of what they sell for and is that a price I am prepared to pay for that particular gun. I can also tell you that I have never sold a gun for less than I paid for it, even the ones I bought new, so it gives you a pretty good idea off how fast they are going up in price. Who would have ever thought Marlin 39s would be selling for $1500 in Good to VG condition but the last one I sold at that price went in 20 minutes.
