three gun
Anybody do Three gun?
Here's my main target rifles in no particular order, short range ,100 to 300, medium range , to 300 to 600. longer range , and 600 to 1,000 meter.
I wonder how many clicked on this thinking they were going to see a pistol, carbine, and shotgun?

I've got good coverage up to approx 4 or 500 meters. Less so for punching paper, more for precisely delivering sufficient ballistic energy on game. IMHO anything beyond that you should be calling in the M777s or an airstrike.

.223 Sportco M44 for the short range ( the middle one)
6mmBR Sportco M44 for the medium range ( the one on top)
308 Winchester m70 for the long range ( the bottom one).
I have shot all if these rifles right out to 1K , but conditions, have to be favorable for the .223 and 6mmBR.

That was a sneaky "click bait" !
Yes I wasn't expecting 2 rifles ......... but nice set up there.
I don't often shoot beyond 500-600 and certainly would dream of doing it with irons - I'd be luck to wound a Volkswagen at those longer ranges with irons!!!

Interesting rifles Cat, your short range 223 looks pretty comfy to shoot. I've always wanted to try a hook style butt plate but wondered if it would be a detriment on the bench. Or do you shoot these off hand. D.H.

All three are shot prone with a sling and jacket sling David but I also shoot the 6mmBR with a hook and palm rest in the offhand position to 500 meters

Seeing your name under the the title, I was expecting something different, and the liberals have essentially eliminated three gun competitions with their firearms bans.

That is my 40X Bausch and Lomb spotting scope
They were built with a 4X Banner on top for a locator scope .
I think they were originally marketed for birding or astronomy type work
Basically a 1200mm camera lens with an adapter
The bipod is an AL Freeland .

Not Sportco barrels though or they look like SS because of reflection?

No, one is a Krieger and the other an RKS, both stainless.
The factory Sportco barrels are not as long as these are either.
Oh, and the triggers on the Sportcos are actually jewels for a 700 Remington, the trigger on the model 70 is a Canjar match trigger.

Guess the three gun guys will probably just have to do a mindset reset and learn the mad minute drill on the bolt or straight pull rifles. Will make it even more of a challenge anyway, if they're up to it.
Cat wiil probably be using a 1/2moa reflex sight with a 12x lens in it next. Sneaky dog.

All of these rifles have extensive modifications done to them from one end to the other all have a third action screw installed for instance .
All are custom built stocks, yes .

Yes you can shoot either but I would stay with 165 grains and under if using g the 308 Winchester ammo.
