Care to list the player moves that Sutter engineered that got them there? Or were most of those players already put in place by the previous GM (Criag Button)? Any???? Crickets, just as I thought.

Isn't every GM hiring of a coach an effort to improve the team and in effect save their job? A GM who hires a coach(s) that doesn't perform risks his own job.

Not sure what's funny about a GM that does that when it's a fundamental requirement of their job.

Not sure you understand that though.

Alright. Maybe I misunderstood. Yes agreed. Much better coach than GM. And all round great hockey mind.

Hmmm. Some false hope for you flamers. I think it was about 80 years ago that a coach actually scored or saved a goal for his team. Good luck. Playoffs? “Just wait until next year”

Pretty well know that GMs get a mulligan in the first coach ( typically not their hire). Then they pick their man and he had better perform for some time.

Hartley ( inherited fired by Treliving after winning the Jack Adams in 2015 also the last flames coach to win a playoff round )

Gulutzan ( his hire after a lengthy search for just the right guy )

Peters ( his hire but victim of cancel culture )

Ward ( his hire )

Sutter ( probably his last coaching hire )

How many mulligans are the Flames owners gonna allow this guy ???

Well known he should have hit the road with his buddy Peters.

So your right. I don’t understand how Treliving still has a job. Maybe you could enlighten us with your grand hockey knowledge.

I was responding to Dead Moose's comment about what Sutter's accomplishment were as a GM or his opinion of lack there of.

But I don't actually see Dead Moose's comment until someone is silly enough to quote it, so sometime it takes a awhile to respond.

-Traded Neal, I don't really need to go on, but there are a few more;

-Signed Elias Lindholm for six years at $4.85/year. Regardless of what you think of the Flames, that's a great value contract;

-Traded Sven Baertshi for Rasmas Anderson;

-Got Dougie Hamilton for a bunch of players you've never heard of;

-Drafted Anderson, Mangiapane, Tkachuk, Dubé, Fox, Parsons, and Valimaki.

Not an amazing record, but better than alot of the guys out there.

For example, not a single draft pick of Edmonton's GM is playing for the Oilers.

Trochu,

I’m Happy your happy with Treliving. And I truly hope the Flames do turn it around. The BOA is much better when both teams are playing for something and I love those competitive games. Last year was awesome. The Oilers finally stepped up and made a rivalry of it again.

We were all stripped of our BOA playoff series and that sucked. Win or lose it’s fun hockey for the fans.

Perhaps you should read this to understand his record as a GM, It's a bit lengthy and it'll take you a while to get through it, but I'm sure you'll get there eventually.

By the way, do I owe you rent for all the space I take up in your head

That’s very good!
You’d think they would be better than a .500 club.

Would be fun to beat the Oilers with 3 different head coaches this season.

Go Flames!

Similarly you would think the Oilers would be better with all the number 1's year over year but they are not.

One would think. We go thru coaches like toilet paper. But we’re done. Either Darryl will get them going or we will know what moves we need to make going forward. But with Darryls team won’t be for lack of effort. Prob is will take a up to a month to get to see some benefits of the new coach. Between both teams we would make one hell of a team lol

I don't have a problem with Treliving, yes could be more stable in the coach department, and could have hired a bona-fide proven coach this past season, had they interviewed some. As far a player personal, I have said it before and I'm sure some of you will remind me again, that this club has more depth than they are showing.
No way this roster should have this poor of performance.. IMO.
Treliving has put some good pieces together, just hasn't found the one to make it all click. Weather that's Sutter as a coach, or it needs to be a trade. Either way I think with Sutter there, and his know how will figure out what's missing. Probably not this season, as we're running out of runway fast, but the off season and things opening up for trades could be interesting.
That said, one game at a time, and tonight they need to come out flying. Shut down McD and Dri again just to pizem off more. Tie up the series would be good. Go Flames.

Ryan Huska been assistant coach here few years, former WHL & AHL successful head coach. He might do OK on the bench for a couple.

What a different team. I have seen a good team at times this year but I haven't seen this.. Not sure if its in the nature of this team to be so belligerent but it sure is fun to watch.. Get a couple of goals though..

I have 2 wins for Calgary on the fight card...

Pretty evident that that dirty mean muck it up style of hockey suits this team much better. Pretty good so far by the Flames. They came out swinging.

Decent game. So much for Looch doesn't fight old teammates, he handled Nures in that one. The Tkachick Neal bout I would chalk up to a draw. Only good punch Neal landed was helmet. Tkachuck had some good jersey jabs, and had him bent over the boards lots.
Taniv's hit was huge.
To bad Backlund tipped in that last goal. Will be a grind till the end now.

You know your bad when Lucic is your best player.

Seems Toronto is the only teams that's figured out they got one guy. If you shut him down, you'll likely win, even if you only score one goal. If you don't, you likely wont.
