I agree with that assessment, never been a huge Johnny fan. Agree he has skill but not a teams "main" talent. Shop him while he has value.
Now would be great time to give Tkachuck the C, between that and a no nonsense coach, could be a huge changing teams identity statement.

Every time Flapchuk kinda looks like he would make a good captain, he pulls something like the penalty against Brown last night. Flapchuk grabs him from behind, rides him like broke back mountain, then continues to face wash him until the ref has no choice but to give him a penalty...complete bone head move and shades of Kassian.

They all do something dumb given enough time. McDavid didn't look great when he fell, completely untouched, got up, skated over the the nearest Leaf and cross checked him, in the offensive zone, with the puck nowhere near, when losing, right in front of the ref.

Unfortunate situation for Ward, but I really like this move.

I suspect this will be Brad's last kick at the can for coaching changes. This is his 4th head coach hire, which, maybe you give him a pass on Bill Peters, so lets say 3rd. Most GMs do not get to hire three head coaches. So, if this doesn't work out, Brad is likely gone. The part I like, is I think it will essentially force his hand to actually remediate the issue if Sutter can't. So, if there is a bad apple in the room, or someone is pouting, if Brad doesn't fix it, he's likely gone. I suspect he knows that, so if the performance on the ice doesn't change, I suspect some personnel moves will be coming.

Also reading rumors of Calgary obtaining a RW for the Gaudreau and Monahan line.

And one last thing, I liked how Markstrom threw his hat on the ice and Chucky retrieved the puck after Dube got his hat trick. That's how a team should be acting.

Sad Sutter will either turn the current roster around, or he will get a new roster.

Treliving is weak as a GM. This is the same move that Chia did here when he brought in Hitch. Did not workout well for anyone.

I disagree, but that's okay.

Reading a few articles that state Sutter will be on the bench tomorrow.

They should be looking for new wingers to play on the “ Mono line “. Bobby Ryan or Jake Virtanen are about your only options right now. Not exactly that right shot scoring winger your thinking ur gonna get. So good luck on filling that role.

Oh, I expect we're going to get exactly what I, and 95% of the people out there, think we're gonna get.

In the press conference, sounds like he won't be with the team until Monday. Has already had zoom calls with the team, and said they will right the ship. Sounds like there will be much clarity with the players, on what the expectations will be of them.
I'm pumped. Reading between the lines with Brad, he is giving some small windows for players to prove their worth.

I agree some decisions are not perfect, but he is doing a lot less shenanigans he did when he first came into the league. Figuring things out as he goes, but still be an agitator. Going to take penalties here and there, but I can see him doing well with that role.

Yep. He needs to play his game. It’s part of what makes him effective. You’re right he has brought it down a notch and I’m sure he will find the right balance.

Dinosaur coach that'll get tuned out in short order, but the Flames needed to do something. A better move would've been to assess the roster and decide on a rebuild, but it's always easier to fire/hire coaches. This is will buy Treliving another season, but he's hired his last coach.

He was the Flames GM from 2003 to 2010 and took them to the Cup finals in 2004.

Cup final vs a division championship with 1st round exit... I will take the cup final.

Did you guys just recently become Flames Fans?

That’s what I figured and I was gonna leave it alone but nope. They had to push the issue.

Funny how Treliving is so astute as a GM that he is basically asking for Sutter to come save his job.

I am assuming that Sutter came in for cheap as that is usually the number one criteria for a Flames coach. Most certainly a bargain though.

Maybe he will be Brads replacement by years end.

Nope, been one for awhile. So, two cups is less of an accomplishment than making the finals?

Well the debate was that Treliving was a better GM than Sutter.

So I guess if you want to add the fact that Sutter has Cup winning experience now that just furthers the fact that Sutter is a much more accomplished hockey mind then treliving.

Probably the reason Treliving has called upon him to save his job.

As in the original statement, I was going with Sutter is a better HC than GM. I see where the confusion lies though and will leave it at that.
