take a look through the other thread someone linked, they mention a site called gps nautical charts, and the app is called i-boating marine navigation maps. its kind of expensive, but you can still get the lite version that lets you download maps for one quadrant, which for me covers most of the area i mainly fish in.

normally i use anglers atlas, you can usually find depth charts for lakes, and then you can just compare your location on google maps to the chart and get an idea of where you are.

I have a book called Lakes of Alberta Hydrographics. They aren't GPS interfaced but they do work. As far as Apps, never found a free one that was good. The chips for Lowrance and Garmin are about the most accurate but the last one I saw was still missing a lot of Alberta Lakes.
