Default Remington Rifles Possible Collector Status??

Just curious if you think any of the Remington rifles will become collectors or in high demand now that Remington is gone.
I would consider buying one if I thought they would have a value .

We are not talking about a Belgium made Browning or a Pre 1964 Winchester here!

The 783 sort of demonstrates what Remington had become before it went under for the second time.

Compared to alot of other rifle brands, there is alot of comparison to just about any other rifle brand that does not make a Remington special.

Remington will come back, and this time it will be a strictly for profit outfit which has to do things off shore to make a buck. But with composite stocks and CNC machining the product will be just as good as it was before, if not better.

Only 1 way to find out, buy some up and sit on them for 10 years and see what happens to the value of them, you may do OK.

There will be guys trying to pump up the price of Remington rifles. I doubt the strength of demand.

Re: junk like the 783 - the market wanted cheap.
Remington and Ruger found it hard to ignore Savage Axis sales.

Those Remington must be real junk. Ever see the prices of 40X in 22 LR? Many rate the 870 as best pump ever.

Yes I’m aware. I’ve got an early one in 338 win mag. Shoots incredibly accurate. According to the serial # it’s got a Hart barrel.

And a McMillan stock. They were still available out of the custom shop a couple of yrs ago, but, they went up a couple of thousand bucks, about the 3500 range as I could decipher. never saw those in stock in a retail shop anywhere else other than Barotto's, either. It was the second most expensive gun they had at the time as well.

Who can you contact now to get info on a KS Mountain rifle? I tried contacting Remington online but when I submit the info all I get is an error message. I tried to submit it several times but got the error message every time.

The Remington 600 and the 660 are creeping up in price...To find an 9/10 minty one, you are now looking upwards of $800 to $1,000. These prices are from this last past year....In 2019 you could find them for $450ish

I know, because I was looking scouring for a couple.

The nice ones are hard to find.

All rifles go up in value over time. I have sold many rifles I bought ten years ago fo more than I paid for them. I do not recall selling a used or new gun for less than I originally paid for it, but that is also true of other things. Just sold an 8 Cubic foot freezer for $50 more than I paid for it new, 6 years ago, and it sold in hours. That to me does not make them "Collectors" items. I think there are a few Remingtons that will become collectors items, 95% however will just be decent shooting irons that go up in value with inflation. Good thing with the 700s, 870s etc, you won't have problems finding parts, however, try to find a 788 replacement mag. Many guns are subject to obsolescence from lack of parts. Not an issue with collectors items because most don't get shot, but as a usable tool it is something to think about.

I have a Remington field master with a red aluminum barrel. That's got to be worth something?

That gun proved to me and a fair number of others that a stock makes a hell of a difference, and I got by just fine with no bottom metal.

Remington gun plant is shut down at present, and the new owner is in court over trying to break the union, and is being investigated on how the deal was set up as well. The company that bought it was a front for the guy that was the president when it went titters, and he technically worked for Cerberus, who is actually the one that tanked Remington by transferring debt to them.

Could be a while before they get back to business. Want a KS you`ll have to find a used one or build it yourself in anything like the near future.

I shot a fair size yukon moose offhand at 240 yards. This is a fantastic rifle and caliber which I’ll never sell.
