Default Applied Ballistics vs Hornady

I am noticing a descrepancy in the Stated BC on the box vs my app. The AB app says the the G7 BC is .297 but hornady says its G7 .326

What one is closer?

Hornady has three measurements for BC based on MV perhaps the app is only using one of those BC values in its algorithms. Hornady has online all their lab tested BC. I would use the value you think is correct then shoot at 500 to verify. Most good apps have drop verification that can adjust either BC or velocity. You may need to play around with things a bit. Personally I'd start with hornady bc based on your MV and start from there.

Default Thanks

Thanks good advice. The App is part of a pair of range finding bino's i got that tell the distance and provide a shooting solution.

The Bullet is the 6.5 MM 140gr ElD M that I have had great success with.

I have been shooting static (set at specific distances) when shooting targets. In the near future I will be shooting objects at unknown distances so I bought the Sig Sauer Kilo BDX 3000 Bino's. They have a different BC than the box. I have used the Hornady 4DOF app successfully when shooting there bullets. I might have to go back to some of my recorded DOPE and see what my come ups and wind holds have been and compare it to the two apps.

I don't worry about the exact B.C., I use it as a ballpark figure to get an idea of where to start and go verify with actual shooting. Actual trajectory determined by shooting, always trumps the calculated trajectory.

You can look up on hornady web site for bc values at mach 2.25, 2 and 1.75 respectively. I would start with the one that matches best with your velocity and start from there. It's Biden years since I used applied ball app but I thought you could change the BC or velocity when you match your actual drops.
