Default Ground blind placement

First time using pop up style ground blind this year. Just wondering how long Before guys plan on sitting in a blind do they set them up. Or does a guy set it up and use it right away. Just wondering what guys have found works best. Thanks

If you're setting up on a field I always set up on the side you expect them to come out from. I have always set up my blind the day of the hunt and have only ever had deer notice it if they are walking straight towards it under 100 yards or past it at close range. Brushing it in makes a huge difference. The most important thing is dark clothes and not opening opposite Windows.

I set up my blind in a bush where a few of there paths cross through, about a 15-35 yard shot lane. Been doing it for about 5 years now and usually set my blind about a month prior to my hunt, trail cameras stay up and I’ve actually have never seen them get spooked or disappear so I don’t know if it really matters. As Jays Toyz mentioned don’t have windows opened front and back or side to side,I have my front window open a few inches so that I can still move around and do as I want without them seeing.

If possible higher ground....back in a bit to break up outline try the shadows...keep timber...brush etc around...windows open but not directly across from each other etc...I have had ones left in areas and ones I set up the morning of....leaving them they get chewed on so I went to making little forts out of deadfall for areas to leave a blind...I like to watch field edges and transition bottle neck areas...

Consider the sun's movements too. Don't be sitting looking west at sunset because the sun will be in your eyes.

Thanks for the replies. The spot I’m going to set up my blind is 1/2 hour walk in , and I was thinking about setting it up a week prior to using it as I was concerned about the blind spooking the deer. I was also concerned about making to much noise tring to set up the blind in the dark.

I have had luck setting up blinds and stands the day I hunt but I prefer to set them well in advance. If possible at least 2 weeks ahead of time. This is so I can just stomp in making a noise and not care too much. I also like to trim shooting lanes so I make a larger impact on the area

In my opinion just setting a blind deer don’t seem concerned but if you start cutting shooting lanes or stomping around the area too much it makes a difference.
