We flattened the curve. Only 6 People in ICU.

Great question Smokey, not sure..i think somewhere around the time the common cent became
discontinued, the common sense went with it though..perhaps little glass houses could be the needed
fix for what china unleashed upon the current, scared, masked heads..?

The Covid virus is only temporarily slowed down.
You can make the toll worse, much worse.
There will be a second wave, and history of pandemics suggests that it will be worse than the first.

Even if it’s twice as bad, big whoop.

My first response to this would not make it pass the automatic sensor so I'll limit myself to saying that you are not worth the oxygen you are using if you truly have that little regard for other people.

Are you still employed and or making money. Speaking of complete disregard for people.
Think of what the money spent on this could have done for cancer research. Speaking of complete disregard for people.
And the list goes on and on
There has been an enormous selfish response to this “pandemic” and precious little of it involves anything health related.

I wasn't aware cancer was a contagion. Interesting.
Anyone writing their thesis on ME, ME, thinking or how Darwin may have been incorrect would have a hay day observing a few here.

Yes, if we can save just one life......
What Covid has taught me is there are truly critical thinkers that can see the numbers and make decisions on how the risks are not much different than ordinary life and then there are the other 95% that would be happy imprisoned in their homes, terrified of a mythic boogieman.

I didn’t say it was.

How about we round up a big group of AO Covid-19 deniers and we all go out for Chinese food! Make it they, I'll go fishing instead!

Millions starving to death due to lack of donations and closed borders.
Billions of children not vaccinated for fear of covid.
Thousands with diagnosed cancer and missed life saving surgery.
Tens of thousands rolling the dice with heart problems.
Tens of thousands suffering from mental and physical abuse from financial stress.
An entire country doomed for generations paying for a trillion dollars in added debt.
HOWEVER, the threat is real! Stay in your basement and tough it out like the selfish leftest leader and his professional puppets say!

Some just don’t get it....we’ve been fortunate because we did act fast.
If we didn’t we could very well be in NY city’s predicament....adjusting for population we’d have 2500 deaths in both Calgary and Edmonton.
Or do you think Covid just doesn’t like New Yorkers?

The handling of the virus in NY is nothing short of criminal. It shouldn't be compared to anything. They were literally sending infected people into the nursing homes on purpose.

Just got back from a trip to Canadian Tire here. Looks like the old normal. People just going about their business, like they pretty much have through this whole Pandemic. I saw two people wearing masks. Nobody cared. I felt comfortable with humans.
We have had 6 confirmed cases in GP, so far, with 3 of those recovered. We must all be uncaring unfeeling monsters. Pretty weak sauce for a pandemic.
My best friend's dad passed away early this morning. He was 92. Covid didn't get him. The sun rises and sets. Pretty soon it will be fall, then winter.
Amazing.

The answer is obvious.
What this country needs is...more welfare!
Less work!
More free bandwidth!
Less personal responsibility!
More Big Brother!
Until there is nothing left in the pantry, kinda like Venezuela, or Greece. Then sparkle socks and his entourage of socialists, quietly supported by the wilfully blind, can ask the CCP to come save us from the terrible situation that the evil Harper created.
This ain't your daddy's Canada anymore.
Enjoy the decline.

Absolutely agree. Or, if New York seems like an outlier, check what is going on in Brazil.

81% of covid related deaths in Canada occurred in nursing homes, with the elderly. Most had underlying health issues. If Sparkle Socks had just spent 1:100 of the $ he has absolutely wasted to make a welfare nation out of the able bodied, in order to buy votes....on protecting the truly vulnerable instead.
The rest of us could have just washed our hands, coughed into our elbows, and kept the lights on. But no.
It would all look so much different.

When you ship covid positive patients back to seniors homes you have problems. What about Florida?
And why in the world am I being treated like I ride a subway with 100000 people every day?

I realize that, but there are a number of people here who seem to think that because we have had a minor outbreak here that it’s proof we needn’t have done anything and we’d be fine...that it’s just been a form of government control.
I beg to differ.
I do think it’s time to get the economy rolling again (with things like social distancing).... but a few here don’t seem to realize that we have gotten off lightly because of the measures taken.

It probably makes a difference that our governments acted relatively quickly and that we live in sparsely populated, relatively isolated, part of the world.

Like what? Closing down everything except where everyone in town needs to go?
We have had more people shopping in our town from Calgary in the last two months than we ever have. They are coming here to stay safe. What an absolute joke.

Another option would be just to kill the patient so they never get covid.
The cure is killing millions and is going to continue to kill for generations.

To add to your list and it could keep going
Kids educations directly impacted those graduating this year with a meh diploma
Suicides do to stress and uncertainty
People just can’t look beyond what they are directly spoon fed and look at long term side effects. People want to talk about selfish we are screwing up the lives of future generation over a virus with a 99% survival rate.
I wonder if these same people can sit on their high horse and say “ that the future of our children is worth less in comparison to the possibility of maybe saving a few lives”.
Save a hundred/thousands to destroy the lives of millions/billions in the future

Nope. I think the government mishandled it. They didn't close the borders, and as per a NP article I posted the other day, we still have massive numbers of international travellers landing here in Canada. They haven't handled it well at all. By any metric. Look at the nursing homes that have been wiped out.
They didn't protect the vulnerable. They didn't protect the economy. They have made a nation of deadbeats out of the able bodied while racking up debt that won't get repaid for generations, if ever. They absolutely **** the bed on this.

There are so many not worth the breath here. But I will respond for those who have been putting themselves at risk.
Yes, I’ve been laid off.
Yes, i want to get back to work.
No, I don’t want my parents to die. They have worse odds of surviving this if they catch it than they do of surviving Russian roulette. If that means you have to wait an extra six months to afford your quad, too effing bad.
Our first responders have been the ones paying for this stupidity. The soldiers who went in to help when all other resources failed are paying for this. If you are that callous about the risks they, firefighters, paramedics, nurses, and whole bunches more have been taking to try keep everyone else safe, how about you go do the training, and become employable in that field so when round two or three comes round you can take your place risking yourself and your family? We are the lucky ones getting to sit it out and protect our families by avoidance. My respect for those beaking without any skin in the game is slim to none. Go put your money where your mouths are. If you can pass the training.
Yes, the government did some things wrong. Things I think they should not have got wrong. But - we have never, in history, had something like this while ALSO having the resources we do. This is a learning experience and i hope like hell they have a faster reaction next time.

Most hospitals are seeing minimal traffic healthcare workers I know personally who are friends and family in BC, Alberta, and Ontario have had their hours cut back do to lack of traffic in the hospitals they work at
Your post may sound all self righteous but our front line workers are not under the level of threat you are trying to push. Maybe look at how many cases are actually in Canadian hospitals. Start looking for how many hospitals have 0 cases

Here's the short version of what your saying:
"China releases flu like disease, Canadians go mad & rage at one another".
Who..and I mean 'WHO' should the hateful hate/"not worth the 'effing' oxygen" be directed at here..
