I can tell you the snow is still up to your back side in the Fox Creek area as of last weekend and it snowed there again this week.
I would say mid April is too soon for all that snow to melt enough, it's late April Imo before any Atv's can easily get out and about on them cut lines and trails. Sleds or tracked Atvs till we see some serious heat.

Usually early to mid May you will have better luck spot and stalking. Lots of green coming out, bringing the bears out to feed on the cutlines.
I know guys shoot bears much earlier than that. However, I find their concentrations really pick up towards mid May. Last year we spotted 13 bear in one afternoon in late May (including my buddies first kill).
Have fun!

Cute shot. Just so you know, it is WAY cheaper to buy commercial popped bulk popcorn than to make it yourself, unless you are just looking to kill some time while you are locked up at home.

Where do you get bulk commercially popped popcorn in Edmonton area?
Thanks,

A couple of years I got a whole bunch of end of day toss out from Cinplex. Made a deal with the Theater manager to buy all of their nightly toss out for a few weeks, which is usually at least a couple of big green garbage bags a day. Think I paid him about 5 bucks a bag. Other one was a lady advertising on Kijiji, she was making it herself but I don't recall the price, and the last one was a guy in Stoney that posted here on AO. No idea where he got his from but it was all stale, which is fine for Bears. He was ten bucks per really big garbage bag.

You need to ramp up the scale of production.

Careful there little gals, no tongues near the metal barrel!
Looks like a fun hoot with the little gals along, pink are legal colors for hunting down here now as well, is it up there?
Bears are out and in here right now without any greens yet. Fun time with the snow stil down to back track to the dens. Great learning time.

I hear talk of keeping golf courses open as long as they follow certain protocols. Would seem pretty unfair to allow that but close the spring bear hunt!

If all the PLUZ and PRA are closed to vehicle traffic, how does one successfully fill a bear tag? I've never even had an opportunity to shoot a bear, but the areas I was planning to hunt are closed to vehicle traffic.

Take the ten toe express. In good conditions, you can walk 4 miles per hour, and there are plenty of bears within 4 miles of most roads in bear country.

I have no issues walking or hiking substantial distances to hunt bears, it's more that "most roads in bear country" are now closed to vehicle traffic. I can't get to them to park and then hike in. AEP has specifically said you cannot park on the side of the road in public land during this COVID pandemic.

A quick glance and Idaho has suspended non resident fishing as has Washington state. Big news was Montana suspended no. Resident spring bear and turkey until the governors shelter in place order expires on April 24th however I fully expect that to be extended a second time.

No parking on public lands and slap a OHV ban on... Well the blank tags I have on hand don’t go bad.
Disappointed for sure if that happens, but if this is what is being asked of me to keep myself and others safe, I won’t get to bent out of shape. Well unless people are not following the directives of course.
