Fished a few different humps the last few days. Slow action over all. Low numbers and no good size.. hopefully it gets a bit better going forward

Has this week been slow for anyone else? Fished cold river, French bay, birch point, and garnet but it's super slow. For a few hours the bite really turns on and they chase hard but other than that nothing. Even have bait laid on bottom as Mackinaw suggested. Various depths as well. Finding the most action at 80 ft on a drop off.

I'm heading up this weekend, can anybody report on the ice conditions? Is it ok to drive on and how much snow did you guys get up there?
Thanks!

4 wheel drive....not enough snow to be too concerned but 4 wheel drive or on a sled or quad....don't be that person out there with a one wheel on a good day drive...ice thick 18" plus but watch out for the shore lines near rivers or areas that enter the lake.

How is mid March for Lakers? I've never been and am at the mercy of my schedule so I'm trying to decide if it's worth going then otherwise I'll do something else. I'd overnight in my trailer if I could. Again, never having been out there I can only assume the ice will be good enough to park on where we fish?

Lakers will bite all year as they are the gluttons of fresh water so that's not an issue. I would check in closer to your time you want to fish as the warm weather can turn ice conditions into crap....unless you bring your boat

How thick is the ice? Heading up Saturday to try fishing for lake trout for the first time. My gas auger is having problems but my electric is good but the auger bit is only about 30” do you think this will work? Also any tips would be appreciated there’s lots of good info in this thread tho.

Ice looked to be about 18-20” off Birch point last weekend. It’s a big piece of water so ice thickness varies quite a bit. Guys were driving on with their trucks off the provincial park.

High winds two days ago has some good size drifts now, was out yesterday -31 and boy oh boy was the lake noisy making more ice
Once we both stood up and opened up windows to see if the truck was still there....as the ice hole deviated a few inches of water in the ice holes as the ice thunder rolled by.......
Slowwww fishing but still managed to slay the gluttons of the deep....heading out now!

Your good to go so far....no problem In the truck but if we get a good dump and some wind areas might get deep but so far all is good.

Willowtrail used his sxs last weekend and I used my quad. Best if you can ride on old tracks and not have to break trail, but you can make it off the track too.

Thanks for the info. I have a sled so I'm not worried about it. I'll be fishing before they get to the spot, lol.
