The UNION should be warning their workers of imminent threat and concerns, no?

I guess the Union has not been following the news.I find the Union negligent.
According to the first report The 911 caller identified that the patient had this travel history. -the paramedics were advised before pick-up.
Who to believe?

Turdeau is not concerned.
He can always hop on a private jet and hid out on the Aga Khan's private island until this pandemic blows over.

I would certainly take precautions. Generally a virus can only live a short time outside of a host, minutes, to 24 hours usually. Occassionally up to 10 days, but that is not the norm. Counter-intuitive, but they actually survive longer on a hard surface versus a permeable surface.

TCEU Paramedic Services said the two paramedics that transported him had to find out about the severity of the situation by watching the news.
“Unfortunately, the Paramedics who transported this patient just found this out from the media and your tweet,” they wrote, referring to the official release about the discovery by Toronto Public Health. They also claimed the paramedics weren’t wearing proper protective equipment when they transported the man to hospital on Thursday.
They later backtracked, saying that they did wear protective gear and that the public health unit told Paramedic leadership about the probable coronavirus diagnosis, but not the two paramedics who transported the patient.
So-The Union lies and everyone is outraged because they believe it is the truth. They need a kick in the nuts.
So What the Union is saying is that They WERE informed, but decided not to tell their members. But they are still somehow outraged and looking to place the blame elsewhere

Yes, the paramedics may not of been at risk; but what the next person to be transported in that ambulance or by them. As has been stated, it survives longer on a hard surface. Lots of hard surfaces in a confined space for it to land on in the back of an ambulance.
Yes, I know things get disinfected between but the chance if missing is huge. I am not really concerned about myself but I do know lots of elderly who could be at risk.

I could really care less if it’s the union or not, all I’m saying is that 2 people that are just doing their job got exposed potentially. That’s how this thing will spread.

Don’t know how long yet. As Bloop said average is 24 hours at room temperature. In colder environments they can live much longer. Hopefully summer comes early this year.
If you’re worried about your package use gloves and wipe it down with Lysol wipes with bleach(blue packaging IIRC). Then go wash your hands afterwards and you should be fine.

Virus and "living" of course being pretty ambiguous.
You're right on the bleach part though. Alcohol is also effective but not in the concentrations most here might consume. If that were true B3ssiedog wouldn't spend a day sick in his entire life.
Some of the products labeled "disinfectants" would be a total waste of time. All are not created equal and would have to have specific targets vs being general disinfectants. Some work well on Some things. When in doubt go with the one they use on Ebola.

Serious question. For all our postal workers that are touching these packages coming in from China daily - what type of precautions are they being told to take ??
Would a virus typically survive a trip like this ??

Good question. I honestly don't know. I think it's Russian roulette. Hopefully they have PPE! If someone coughed and there is some fluid, the virus will be live and well on its trip...

As of 12:00AM Jan 27, there have been 2744 confirmed cases of Wuhan Coronavirus in Chinese mainland, 80 deaths.
Even though it dropped slightly, I would say the average of about 1.5 increase in new daily reported cases still holds.

Yes, a virus isnt life. I guess I should have said it can remain infectious in a cold environment longer.

I feel like this is important information that should probably be looked at.
I mean - with all the crap that comes from China, who knows if it could spread to the (intended) recipients (you), or carriers (the postal workers) ??
More fear mongering ?? Or legitimate concern ??

Appears everyone of these were actually in Wuhan. Like physically present in the city in the last two weeks! Surprisingly no health workers from Washington State have it, and that person is due to leave hospital soon.

I'm not surprised. With up to fourteen day incubation period there could be many more cases in NA that are not showing symptoms yet.

This comes form CNN not sure how much to trust it but
"On Sunday, Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said the risk to the American public for contracting this virus continues to be low.
"We at CDC don't have clear evidence that patients are infectious before symptom onset, but we are actively investigating that possibility," Messonnier said.
"We need to be preparing as if this is a pandemic, but I continue to hope that it is not," she added."
