Don't know if this is the one you're referring to: Genesee Range. I wouldn't say 1.5 hr from Edmonton. Located on the river flats about 5-6 miles from the Genesee bridge.
Take the first right coming up the south side of the river -- about a km from the bridge, 50 feet later there is a 3 way junction, go left. You're on old 770 here heading SW.
Take a right. Straight just gets you onto the edge of the cooling pond. About 100 meters later turn left. At this point you are heading west on TWP 510. After about a mile, the road does a switchback down the river bank. THIS ROAD CAN BE IMPASSABLE AFTER A FREEZE/THAW, as it's steep and can get icy. It doesn't help that cell reception in the area is spotty, and mostly limited to high ground,
The range is at the bottom of the hill on the north side.
There is also an unused gravel quarry just south of the river end of 510.
