Default Peloton

Anybody here doing the Peloton exercise bike?

If so, what do you like or dislike about it?

Looks like the Peloton is about $3k, as an alternative I would suggest getting an electronically controlled bike trainer and mounting a road bike to it. If you don’t already own a road bike, decent units on the used market can be had $1200-$1500. Another $700-$1200 for a trainer. Now you can actually use the bike in the summer outside too.

If you’re looking for motivation, check out Zwift. It’s essentially an online video game that controls the resistance of your trainer so you have to respond and shift accordingly to the changing terrain in the game. You can compete in races or just start riding and you’ll usually find a rival around your skill set to informally compete against. Helps keep multi hour training sessions interesting.

Price point way to high for me, otherwise I would be down with it.

Wink Impossible to do without!

It has become a necessity of life for us! Absolutely critical for proper posing; we have a pair at home and another pair exclusively for when we travel.
No other $3K stationary bike will do.

If you like spin classes with music then Peloton. If you like bike riding and training then Zwift. I did 6500km last winter on Zwift, training and racing.

Well, I got a Peloton bike this week and I love it. The instructor motivation is what I need. Built solid, quiet and is real techy. The seat is a bit hard (so I got a gel cover) and as others said, is pricey.

What trainer do you use? Been on the fence about seriously looking for one, but I do like the idea of being able to connect Zwift to a trainer.

The price point of the peloton automatically makes it a no-go for me

I'm using the Wahoo Kickr direct drive trainer with an old road bike. Since I like racing for motivation Peloton did not interest me. My setup is quite elaborate since it gets used so much.

Don't buy without checking Kijiji, there are always several listed , that you can likely buy for half price, some haven't even been out of the box. By mid to late January, there will be even more listed. It's like that with pretty much all exercise equipment.

I can’t wait to get back to my own wellsite shack after New Years where my Bowflex Max Trainer currently is. I really need to drop about 10lbs, 15 would be better but I’d be happy with 10. That machine gives you one heck of a workout. I am dripping with sweat head to toe and have a good burn going in the old legs after a good workout on that machine.
