New/old toy...
My dad gave me his 1895 Winchester in 30-40 Krag. Looking forward to taking it out in the woods and getting a deer with it. Hate for it to be a safe queen.

Nice gun, and a cool old cartridge. Would for sure be a shame to not use it, jeez that barrel sure looks long though!

Oh super cool! The mention of that caliber had me go tearing through my magazine/book collection looking for Jack O'Connors "The Hunters Shooting Guide" because until your post that's the only mention of it I've come across. It's been a long, long time since I read it and I don't believe there is anything in depth regarding that cartridge but for some reason it always intrigued me. Just flipping through the pages right now I'm trying to remember how many times I read "The controversial 270" or "Just how good is the 30-06?" chapters. Talk about a different time. Sorry if I'm sidetracking to much.

Very nice condition by the pictures of it. Also 30-40 Krag makes it special. Looks like your dad looked after it well.

Old Timers have Class. Looking at that tiny fore end makes one wonder, What were they Thinking ?

Cherish the heirloom, and go lay a smack down on a deer with it.
Beauty rifle!

I agree 100%. Safe queens or rifles you don’t shoot are useless. Pictures are for looking at. Rifles are for shooting. I dont keep any rifle that isn’t for shooting. Tried once but failed if I’ve got em i shoot em.
Beautiful rifle to pass down.

That's a nice one! Long barrel ones don't seem to be that common. Keep your eyes peeled for a Climbing Lyman #21 rear site. Or repro.
