Default Vet bill.

Took wife's Terrier to Vet. Dog needs teeth 3 teeth pulled plus some other cleaning. Anywhere from $$1600 to $2300 here in town. No insurance. Need to get it done feel sorry for the little guy. Any recommendations on a Vet ?

Farther out of town you go, the cheaper. I suggest a day in Nanton. It will save you at least $800 if not way way more.

Planning on going to the states soon? A trip down there can save you 60%

Had a few quotes here in town about neutering a dog. $400 seemed about average. Called the vet in great falls and was quoted $180. Drop the dog off at 8am and he can be picked up at 3.

You MIGHT need proof of rabies vaccination to cross the border?
I thought that used to be true.........

In general, prices are lower if you get away from the city.
Good luck

You don’t keep up to date on your dogs rabies vaccinations?
I don’t understand what the big deal is.

Rules changed. No longer required for border crossing in or out

Dogs are massively over vaccinated. (as well as people) Can cause auto immune system disorders. Our older dog, seems to react to everything now. Has a permanent skin condition from chronic flare ups. Lost a pile of fur and had bare spots all over. Kind of got her fixed up a bit, but she's still uncomfortable it seems.

I did some reading on a German study, and the very first rabies shot was shown to be effective for life. Proved by both titer tests and live exposures. But now dogs get about 14 times more what is needed.

Took my pooch to Carstairs was $1400 with an overnight stay and 12 or 13 teeth extracted. It was more than twice as much in Calgary.

I went the route of trying different vets and for me I found most vets charge about the same. So for me I know I am going to pay so then which vet gives me the most service for the price. Do they do other little things and show they care about your pet rather than telling you they care but then it is just words.
One thing I found is the medications you have to buy are very expensive. I spent $170.00 on a bottle of anti itch pills. But then I bought some cheap ear cleaner from Walmart and they hurt is ears so bad that I put the cleaner in the garbage. It is getting so many of us will not be able to afford a dog.

I needed some of the cat's teeth extracted... Calgary vet wanted around $1600 for the teeth. Took the cat to a vet in Sundre and did the teeth and some shots for $600.

Gonna suggest this guy, our preferred vet. Right on the corner of H 27 and 22.

Small animal vets should be required to wear mask as they rob you.

I also am in Calgary. My girl needed some blood tests before breeding last month. I usually go to Montgomery Vet Clinic. I called and they quoted me $350 for the test. I heard Beddington was cheaper. Called and got the exact same test done for $125. It pays to make a few phone calls. Good luck

$1100 for 7 removals here in Leduc. That included a full panel blood test and the anesthesia.

I'm so glad my daughter is a vet tech, and we get some serious family discounts for our two dogs on everything. Vets and dentists....yikes.

As they say, there ought to be a law.
