how far from the muzzle is it?

I may suggest putting a whack of oil down the barrel and letting it sit for 20 min then try pushing it backwards.

Good luck!!

Soak with oil. Take the end off your cleaning rod. Insert the rod into the barrel.

Tap it out using your rod the same direction as you inserted it.

You wont hurt anything.

i wish the swab was on a rod. its on a flexible cable. its about 3" in. im trying to figure out if i can find some needle noses that would fit. nothing i can think of. maybe puting the cable in a vise and just given er' hell?
but that could jam it way worse.

I saw an old but very wise gunsmith use citric acid once. He squirted some in the barrel and waited about 15 minutes and then just gave a stong and steady pull on the rod. got the rod out and pushed out a brown gob of linen.
Then a quick hot water rinse followed by normal cleaning and all was good.
This was 20 some years ago on an already old rifle, so I don't know if it is still used or even a viable fix to your problem. So if anyone else has seen this, please chime in

got it , unscrewed the cable, brought it over to a friends house . found a dowel to fit and some oil then hammered it and she slowly came out. no damage done. thanks.

if you have access to an air compressor try using a rubber tip nozzle (good seal on the barrel) to blow it backwards, another idea...if you have access to some 1/8 or 1/4" tubing try putting the cable through the tubing and then you will be able to push the swab out back the way it went in.

I've had that happen a few times with the Otis kit and had to use a coat hanger to push it towards the breech. I've had to hold on to the hanger with a pair of pliers and tapb down with a hammer. They can get pretty stuck.

Pounding a coat hanger down a high quality barrel once would be enough to make me throw away any pull throughs.(If I owned any, which I don't)

i dont mind the otis set that much. i found it to be a cross between a bore snake and a rod set. i think im going to pick up a rod set again now. the bore snake is alright for a quick clean but its nothing compared to actually geting in there with a good brush and swabs. no comparison.

skip the rod set and get a good 1 piece, money well spent.

A Dewey rod is far superior to the multi piece rods found in the kits.
