Default Aftermarket M70 Bottom Metal Suggestions?

Does anyone have any suggestions for a replacement 1 piece, steel, factory style or oberndorf bottom metal for a Model 70? Additionally, has anyone had problems bringing them over the border? Tried PTG but they won’t answer my emails.

What is your budget?

Does it need to fit the factory inlet?

For factory replacement Williams is probably the nicest. Brownells, with the proper paperwork that they provide, will ship it to you. But they are likely out of stock.

PT&G can be had from Gary Eakin at Bighorn Sales in BC. It’s certainly not as nice as the Williams though.

For non factory inlets, Echols, Blackburn (swift), Sunny Hill, Wiebe etc are nicer than the above, but some get pretty expensive and in most cases you will need a new stock.

I've been happy with the Williams. Best balance of cost and quality, for my uses.

The PTG is OK, but not great. Williams is worth the extra cost. IMO.

No experience with any of the real high end stuff chuck listed, other than drooling on a few examples owned by others. Incredible pieces of workmanship.

I would probably go with the Williams but they don’t make them in stainless unfortunately.

PM replied to. :-)

Because your stock is synthetic a whole new world opens up. :-) Epoxy can fill gaps wonderfully. I’d call sunny hill and see what they offer or what they can do in stainless.

I’m not sure if the new Model 70’s have provision for a third guard screw but here is Echols stuff. His is a three piece assembly so requires a middle screw.
