Default Open water predictions?

Given the current deep freeze, I can imagine the hard water fellers have had a great season.
But some of us are fair weather and open water, boating types.
I know this is way too early, but I also know a month from now could be the warm weather we are all waiting for.

So I’m curious. And getting a bit squirrelly.

The optimist in me thinks things will be just fine before May long.

The pessimist though thinks my boat won’t see the open water until after June 1st.

What about you?

I'm really not thinking about it. Ice fishing is so good this year

That said, I think things will be good for May Long since the weather models show a warm spring.

"Open water predictions?"
Now that's a good knee slapper
Woke up this morning and had a thought out loud, was just saying it's pretty bad when the hard water fishers get to fish more days than us soft water people get to From the looks of it the hard water season will come to an end and the ice will still be around for 2 more FRICKIN months. "Damn it Janet"
Anyhoo........... come on +20c

My ice fishing consists of going to the left side of the fridge, put my bait in the hole and guaranteed to catch some ice . Once in awhile the odd one gets away.
Come on +20

I'm so friggen sick of workin in the cold and fighting frost and frozen dirt that I really wouldn't mind falling into a coma and awaken to the honk of a goose and a glimpse of a Robin. As much as I love my ice fishing and trapping and winter in general, I've had enough. We were ripping topsoil in late September early October and still scratching away. Beat all to hell, come on 649.

Not happening any time soon. 2.5 months.

I haven't even got out ice fishing yet this year!

I hate to say this, but I kind of hope the ice stays a while so there is time to hit some trout ponds before ice is gone.
