Default Gravely vs cub cadet zero turn mowers?

With the days getting longer spring and summer are just around the corner. I hope. We wore out our old cub cadet mower and I'm in the market for a new one.

What's your opinion on gravely mowers? Better then cub cadet? I've narrowed the playing field to cub cadet or gravely with the gravely being quite a bit cheaper.

Take a close look at the country clipper. I believe better machine then those two options. Luv the hydraulic joy stick and super easy to clean when you can lift the front deck to clean in 30 seconds. Great zero turn. Went thru this a couple years ago. Luv my commercial unit

Default Bought John Deere zero turn last summer

quite pleased with it as the old New Holland yard tractor took 3 times longer to cut same area.
Remember the Gravely name from my fathers landscaping business when I was a teenager and my brother has also spoken highly of them as more of a professional grade mower when he was with Toronto Parks and Recreation.
Since the house is now over 20 years old we have been replacing appliances for past year so wife brought home the consumer report buying guide and I looked up my deere after the fact and it is rated 73 out of 100. Highest rating goes to Troy built Mustang 42 at 82 and Troy built Pivot 46 at 81. Both Cub Cadets come in at 78 and 77. There is a Canadian supplement in the back of book for machines commonly sold in Canada and while no mention of Gravely, the Troy built again takes top honors for canadian machines followed closely by Cub Cadet, Toro, Husqvarna, and John Deere.
As with many machines I suspect factories such as MTD produce many machines to any companies specifications and apply a different color paint and logo badge to the finished machine. My old New Holland is listed as being identical to the Toro machine of the same horse power (20). I suspect if you are seeing a Gravely cheaper than a Cub Cadet is is not the professional Gravely but rather a licenced product produced by MTD or similar company under licence from Gravely. Much the same as Home Depot sells Deere licenced mowers made by MTD.

I did see a advertisement for the country clippers and they seemed pretty pricey. The graveley zt-x 52 is $4000 on sale because of the dealer being bought out by another. Can't remember the model of cub cadet but it was $6400

No experience with the machines listed , but I use John deere zero's commercially. I have had no real issues in 20+ years. Service is fantastic. I had 1 Toro that milked me to death.

What about the mulcher kit versus the rear bagger for leaves in the fall?

I have a Country Clipper Challenger 52 "with the gas Kawasaki engine and erops. Great machine I think. Also have a John Deere Z-trac(erops) with Yanmar diesel that is also a great unit. Have a Kubota BX 25D tractor with a mid mount mower which is the best built of the three. Thats the one i would be looking at if you are not dedicated to commercial mowing as the zero turns are nicer(faster) to use but they can only mow. Bx25 has the fel and back hoe and many attachments available including different mowers.IMO the Kubota products are second to none.

I hear you about the kubota tractor. Ideally that’s what I’d like. The problem is convincing the yard/house boss it would be more versatile. For some reason they just think differently but ya those little tractors would be the cats pajamas for sure.

I just bought a 2014 Cub Cadet zero turn with a steering wheel. Thought the wife would like a wheel better, not sure if she will ever drive it though.
I bought a New Holland with a bad motor, then went to this one.
I also have a 2014 John Deere 2032r diesel tractor with a 65" midmount mower, but for the front yard I just can't get in the trees.

There's a few lawn tractor/yard tractor forums out there. I think tractorbynet and tractor forum are two of them. Read up on what they say about the particular models. There are also a few grass and landscaping forums that cover these ones.

To go back to a steering wheel or having 2 handles to turn a zero turn would seem like a punishment now after using the joystick on my C.Clipper.

Last spring, I picked up a 2018 Cub Cadet 54" Zero Turn with the Steering wheel and Kawasaki motor. Zero complaints so far and much better quality than the 2005 JD lawn tractor I had previously. Also nearly cut my mowing time in half!

I'm not liking your choices,I haven't any experience,John Deere has always been good to me. Plus it's to darn cold to be talking about mowers lol.

Yes, but the best time to buy a mower or air conditioner or other such stuff is in winter when all hope of warmth is forsaken by the masses....
