Default Princecraft pontoons and Barry J's Marine rant!!

Back in 2016, I was far from excited when the Mrs wanted more overall room on the water and still have the ablitity to ski and tube.

I looked and looked at her pontoon boat suggestions but really wasn't convinc d they could do the job. We settled on a 22' Princecraft Sportfisher with a 150 merc.

Right from day 1 this pontoon boat amazed me. Crazy amount of room and storage, excellent rough water ride quality, and ample power to pull 2 skiers and still have a few people in the boat. We even had room to install a nicely matched 4 drawer dresser to give more storage.

Into the second year I noticed a small bubble under the vinyl flooring. I knew exactly what was happening but didn't want to tell my wife. Within maybe a month, the bubbles grew all over the deck to the point where I made the call to Barry J's Marine to inquire what might be happening.

Grady from the warranty department took my initial phone call and right away he informed me Princecraft had some issues with a certain type of Marine grade glue they used to seal the vinyl to the deck. I wasn't happy to say the least but Grady assured me Princecraft would fix the problem. I thought great, they will have to take the entire top portion of the boat apart. Well, thats exactly what they wanted to do. There is no other way for the problem to be fixed.

Without question, Barry J's and Princecraft were awesome! All they asked me to do was get the boat to Edmonton. With the help of a great forum member, the boat was brought to them at the end of last summer.

The boat was then stripped of everything including the motor and shipped to Quebec to start the repair. I was then told to wait a couple months for any updates. Grady stayed in touch with me to make sure I was informed of the progress. What happened next really surprised me.

The rear ladder on the boat was bent badly from a tree that jumped out at me while backing up, oops. The travel/ storage cover has numerous broken snaps from too much snow sitting on it.

Princecraft let me know they are fixing the ladder and all the snaps that broke AND will pay for everything! On top of that they will pay Barry J's Marine for the first 100 service on the motor. What??

I am more than impressed with the entire experience! Grady at BJM was excellent to deal with. Princecraft was equally amazing.

I just wanted to share the story considering we all have some awful stories of our service experiences.

That is really good to read. Got to say that is the first truly positive review I have ever seen on Barry J Marine. Hope this indicates they have turned the corner and now are going to offer great service to everyone. Really glad to hear your boat is getting fixed up right, not just spackled.

Ya I was expecting some horrible service or something.
I've owned a prince craft boat for 10 years and would never switch to anything else.

That warmed my heart on a cold, cold, morning. Thanks for the positive comments for both Princecraft & Barry Jays! I will be sure to pass them on.

Had my Princecraft for 3 seasons now and have loved every minute spent in it!

Glad to hear you had such a great experience.

Can't wait for season 4!

Cheers,

awesome...I have dealt with buying a few things over the years from Barry J...Never a problem, always been treated very fair, and I didn't even have to buy a great big boat..
Great thread....smell that, it reeks of good business practices..
