They do it quite abit with all types of fur, even bears but that's another story that will upset me.

They dont have a price yet, once the other yotes similar to those sell than thats what they're worth and that's what you'll get.

I have pelts in all those grades and they never touched any of mine. Where are those lot numbers in the catalogue or how many pelts were sold this way?
MED colour pelts were preferred in the first auction last season and they sold for the most. I remember not having very many MED as I watched them sell. The second auction I was excited to see that I had a lot of MED only to see a different colour being more preferable.....lol.
Someone mentioned the pelts selling for US$150. That’s CD$197. I get the point that the buyer won’t have to bid on the pelts but I’m not sure that I’d be too disappointed with that kind of money......especially for a II pelt.

Ya not sure where that came from because I was told they determine the fair market value after the sale. So if the other similar ones sell for 150 than that's what u get.

Ya. None of mine have a dollar value anywhere in the lotting or any other notes at all. Just the strange lot #s that don’t show up anywhere in the catalog.
I do have other coyotes that graded the same in the regular lots that show up in the catalog.

If this how it went down then the only way it happens imo is if nafa gets a offer they can't refuse but only pay the trapper market value. Why else would they? Has to be something in it for them.

It was just the 1 pelt that happened like that i spent a while on phone with nafa and if they have a buyer that is bidding online they tend to buy a sample from the lot and have it shipped to them . The lot number isnt listed in the sale either its 549646

While we are on the lotting letter subject ,there is no description on them as to the section quality like there is on your final sales printout ..is there a way to find this out in advance of the sale?

I have to say that I'm a little bit disappointed about my grades on this auction ... but not surprised. I've caught almost the same number than previous years but the quality of the fur was not as nice than last season and I can't really explain why. I start my trapping season only in December and I close everything earlier than usual. So most of my coyotes been caught in their prime time. No select, only two *I, couple I-II and a lot of grade II. Still can't wait to see the results...$$$ !

Never noticed that, youd think there would be since pretty soon you'll no longer get a printed out result package in the mail. It will all be online, it might even be this sale it starts I cant remember.

Guys, NAFA has been in the fur business for along time. They do everything they can to get our fur moved at best price. Their commission is based on price.

Nobody is trying to knock nafa. They do a great job and are the best in this business. I think they understand the industry better then anybody and will do the right thing that's best for trapper and customer. Guys are just curious is all.

These are my top grades. Alot better then they were last year but I knew that going in. My coyotes had improved quite a bit, especially in colour. Ultimately I'm satisfied.
I'm short one coyote. It's not showing up in my lotting letter. I'm hoping it will show up in the next couple days. I heard it normal for that to happen. Anyways, best of luck on the sale everyone. God bless.

This is an excellent point and a great question to ask Mary. I'd even be happy to have the info after the sale but I don't know of any reason why NAFA wouldn't post it before the sale. Those descriptions explain a lot as to why the pelts sold for what they did (ie. PR, ELY, RUB, etc). Do you want to email Mary or should I?
I had one beaver pelt that had 4-8 beside the grading. "Off Colour - Red Rim". That's all that NAFA would have to add for all pelts. At least I'll know why that particular pelt sold (if it sells....lol) for less than others graded the same without the Red Rim.

For your grade break down just click on the name like beaver or coyote and it will go to another page.
My marten and fisher are not posted yet or my fur counts, as some were missing.

If you go to the catalogue and open the PDF (check your pop up blocker) and scroll all the way over to the right you can see the section/ quality codes GD, AVG, PR... etc for each of the lots. You can look up each of your lot #'s and find the codes that way, slow to do if you have big numbers in the sale but might satisfy your curiosity.

Did any of you guys that had coyotes pre sell get in touch with NAFA and find out the real deal what is going on? Might clear up a bunch of speculation.
