I like it! I’m a ford guy though, depending what the numbers are id consider this engine in a future truck I plan on buying instead of a diesel. The numbers have to be better mileage wise then the 6.2 because the 6.2’s numbers are a joke, very reliable engine but the mileage is a joke.

2016 6.2 in a f350 dual wheel, extended cab long box.
Average 28L/100km
Worst fuel sucking truck I have ever drove. I have put over 400 liters of fuel in one day.
Ok power but not great.
Would never ever own one personally.
I thought the 6L in a GMC was bad till we got one of these at work.
Pulling a 9000LB office trailer up to Conklin
36L/100km
Took it into Ford to see if something was wrong, was told thats about right for the truck, hooked it up to there computers to make sure nothing was a miss, and everything checked out.
Was never so happy when I came to work one day, and the gate was jarred open, and that truck was stolen. Happy day.

I had a 2011 F250 supercab 6.2. Absolutely loved the truck. Mileage was very good. I would buy another in a heartbeat if I needed a mediate puller.

When I looked at one briefly thinking of trading my F150 for a gas f250 for having a better tow vehicle I decided to stick with my f150 because what I get towing with my f150 is what the 6.2 gets empty. 6.2 I believe is 13-15 L/100km highway and 17-19 L/100km city?
We have them at work and they’re just pigs on gas. I have a basic f150 and towing 3 quads on my 17’ flat deck I get on windy days average 14-16 L/100km. Empty I get 10-11.4 L/100km.

Ya that sounds about right. I can haul two sleds on the deck or pull a load of horses with ease. Surprisingly well, wouldn’t look at a diesel. No need.

I have a 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 ltz 4 x 4 it has the 6.2lt gas with the 8 speed automatic behind it, absolutely great on fuel, have a cab height canopy on it, running empty to arizona average 9.2 lt/100km and in the US that's running around 80 mph/ 140km, i pulled a 8' x 20' enclosed trailer to brooks this summer, pushed a 30km wind all the way down, threw about 4,000 lb in the trailer and headed home, 890km round trip just under 19lt / 100, lots of power and with that 8 speed runs around 1700 rpm at 120 on the highway, absolutely love it.

I just have the V6 3.5L, not the turboed eco boost. I don’t tow enough to justify a diesel for higher fuel prices and stupid expensive maintenance bills. A tow packaged F150 I’d honestly the best truck you can get for tow/ mileage.

GM's coming out with a new gas engine for 2020. 6.6 V8 400hp & 450 torque.
The new 7.3 should top that.

Yea I heard that but they already have a 6.2 lt V8 that puts out 420hp and 460torque, why they would make an engine with a bigger displacement that puts out less HP and Torque is beyond me

Because the 6.2 you refer to is the Camaro/Corvette LS engine. It's a car engine in a pickup - not made for a work truck (And takes premium fuel).
The new 6.6 is set up for towing/hauling with a cast iron block, I believe.
And will run on regular fuel.

6.2 does not require premium fuel. We have one in our suv - good engine and surprisingly good on fuel.
I've also got a 6.0 liter in one of the work trucks, nice motor but hard on fuel. I'm sure this is the engine the new 6.6 will be replacing??

Absolutely the 6.2 requires premium if you want to make the spec hp and tq numbers. Otherwise you are down about 40 hp. Sure, it will run ok on regular but why would you want to?
Yes, the 6.6 is intended to replace the workhorse 6.0.

Check the engines folks, the 6.2 for corvette / cars is the LT1 engine designed to run on premium fuel, listed at 455 hp
The 6.2 lt for pickups and suv's is the Ecotec 3 L86 engine designed to run on regular unleaded or E85 fuel, no premium required, I have been driving one for 2 years now, great on fuel and lots of power. Listed at 420 hp and 450 torque, totally different

Well I've run both. There is zero difference in seat of the pants feel - it's a quick engine either way. At 10c a liter difference, and about 125km driving per day......that's why I run regular lol.
Ours is an SUV for getting groceries and taking the kids to hockey... I'm sure camaro owners or whatnot run premium. For me though, there's no difference. Just a lighter wallet.

I agree if I needed a bigger truck than my F150. If I was buying a new dedicated plow truck it would be a F350 single cab long box with the gas engine. My agency is replacing our vehicles slowly with 3/4 ton gas trucks. The past 3 years that I've worked here have always been Ford 6.2's(lowest bidder ). I'm due for a new truck this year or most likely next year so I would love to get the new 7.3 gasser. My 2008 6.8 Ford is getting tired!
