Hey skawtty Congrats on the the Otter tent. This is my second season with it. I fished three days and slept three nights in it. She was warm and toasty with my Big buddy heater . You will love it.
They are very well insulated. The Otter out performs my Clam Jason Mitchel for warmth. Take care and Tight lines

Slow day today
My daughter and I were out today. Great weather day but fishing was tough. We drilled a lot of holes at Norwoldglen, lighthouse and RR23. Next to nothing moving. Saw a few whites in the first hour at Norwoldglen and that was it.

Anyone have any luck with little tungsten jigs or the small marmish jigs? Some are made to look like a maggot.

Ive had some luck with the tungstens and really like them. They thump the bottom well and i add a couple maggs. I find the black and yellow ones work.
That said i have yet to ice a white this year!
My boy grabbed a solid 24" walleye on one of the little tungstens and a minnow head last year.

Ya it was definitely a tough day out there today. We must have drilled 25 holes. We saw hardly any movement. Where did all the whites hide ? We caught a few walleye on the Jawjackers. In all a beautiful day to be out.

Just checking in .... I recall those days, normally found any active Whites in the shallows in the early am and then just before sunset .... the remainder of the day they were scattered just cruising at various depths over deep water (18-25ft) very difficult to get them interested so I spent more time working the shallows looking for different bottom structure & semi-active fish. Fishin should improve over the next week.

Hey Zip !!! Great to hear from you . Thank you for the advice. I plan on going next Friday. I hope your enjoying your time away. Zip I was at Lesser Slave Lake a few weeks ago . The fishing on a traditional jig head and minnow was not producing . Fishing was flat. For the heck of it I tried your red wire worm pattern with the green glow bead. Zip I was catching Walleye and Perch consistently and the odd white fish. My friends were shocked

JJ .... tks for the plug, pleased to read a few of the suggestions produced. Fishin will pick up this weekend, hope you do well.
Too bad, Mr Happy will miss out on all the fun. Wonder if we'll even see a pic of his salt water P.V. Adventure ?
Edit: ... put the fishin pole & golf clubs away, going to the Barrett-Jackson Auction this weekend .... it's the biggest deal in Phoenix, can't miss out.

Brutal, went out Sat AM before first light. Tried 6 different locations that always produce fish. Saw 2 hooked 2 lost both at the hole.
Packed up at noon and am currently considering selling all my ice gear (or throwing it all down a damn hole!).
Might need a new TV so the cash will come in handy.
Damn Patroits!!!
Cheers,
Scott.

Hey Scott .... doesn't sound like a good day for you.
I'm not a Ford guy, but I saw a truck at the Barrett Jackson auction in Scottsdale today that would be fun to try to get stuck on the lake.
See .... a "6 x 6" !
Check out a few more of my pic's in the General Section B.J. Thread.
Cheers

I like Ford's velociraptor version of a 6x6 better than the dodge version of a 6x6. haha
Sorry for the de-rail.

Hit Gull for some whites Saturday AM. First light. Saw zero. I did manage 2 walleye though - one a typical class B and the other a fat 5 lber.
Left for Sylvan and made it on the North side at around 11 a.m. Took a bit to see some whites but had one typical little one first and then saw and missed - 3 times - a really big white. Big as in at least 2 lbs which is big for Sylvan. Also hooked and lost 2 pike in the same spot and 1 walleye. Moved around a lot in afternoon hole hopping and covering a lot of depths. No more than 5 min a hole. Found some really big whites which surprised me. Hard to say but I'm guessing 2lb+ Good to see! Hooked 2 of them and lost both right under the hole...sigh. Very aggressive though. Usually the would have the hook in their mouth before I did anything so came in fast and took it fast. I don't think my hooksets were good. I did manage to land a nice walleye around 3 lbs and hooked and lost a 10 lb pike - got to fight it for a few mins though.
I came home with one white on the small side. Still, not bad. I wonder how the morning would have been. Also the size of the some the whites was very encouraging. I'll be back

We started at 6 feet of water and now have worked our way to about 18 feet. Still out here and no luck. I’ve talked to a few guys. They are having the same luck we are. I’ve drilled roughly 20 holes moving around ..Still not seeing any fish.

Ice thickness
How thick is the ice?
Does anyone know if the ice heave has been removed from Sunbreaker?
I just want to know if I am driving on or walking on tomorrow.

Was out today at Palm- seen quite a few whites none interested in any of my ww or realistic flies- they were literally sifting bugs out of the sand under our hole... lol- had a couple nudge the hook, but very uninterested... 6lb floro for line. Only fished from 11-2 though

Hi Deng, when people talk FOW, feet of water, does that mean from the bottom of ice to the surface of lake bottom? Thanks in advance

Was an Norglenwold today from 7am to 4pm . Didn't see one fish. We moved 8 times looking for them. I asked many people around us how they were doing. No one we talked to had any luck today. Many of them said they saw no fish on the camera either. I'M TAPPING OUT !!!!!

As thin as 13 inches but as thick as 16-17. Maybe even 18 in places. Good hard ice at Sylvan unlike Gull. Yes, Sunbreaker has a huge heave and I'm guessing by now it is unpassable given shifting ice and temps.
