Seeing bullet holes at 300 and beyond
I’ve been finding my current spotter is inadequate for seeing bullet holes out to 300 yards.
What spotters are people using that works well seeing groups in targets at distances of 300 yards and beyond?
Do I need to spend big $$$ for European glass or is there some decent price point spotters that will suffice?
Please share....

I have a very good spotting scope, but on a black paper target on an overcast day I have a hard time seeing bullet holes at 300 meters, it is danged near impossible.
On an orange bull however, no problem.

Buy a small drone with a camera and a laptop Hover it above the target. Cheaper and more versatile than a $3000 spotting 'scope. More fun too.

The bullseye or target cam systems are pretty cool as long as you don’t accidentally shoot them. I don’t know if getting an ice fishing camera and buying a longer cable would be an option or a wireless GoPro or security camera could be rigged up to something.

I use bright yellow or green (like neon) craft paper. The sheets are big 24x36 I think and it's very easy to see the holes at 300 in the scope.
Just make your target in sharpie marker and away you go.
For the other paper I have a nikon spotter that is OK at 300 but not much farther.

Just steal your wife's phone, set it up facing the target and use facetime.

Beyond 300yds we mostly use steel. Far easier to spot and hear hits. You can see the trace with a good spotter at 1/2mile.

With your current spotting scope and a good spotter on that spotting scope I’d think you would get to 400-500 yards. In my experience I’ve found it much easier to track the bullet than to find a hole after the shot.

Orange target on white paper, and I can usually find bullet holes to 500 yards with my Kowa 883.

I use shoot and see. Targets. I can easily see 6mm holes at 300y with my scope on 16x.
When I shoot 600y I can’t see the holes so I just shoot three then Go get the target.

Dollarama sells big sheets of white card stock or cardboard paper for 50c a sheet. It's great stuff to shoot as you can see the holes way out there.
Use a orange sticker or marker for an aiming point. And you can patch the holes with white price tag sized stickers. Also at Dollarama.

We just use plain white 11x17 paper. I printed it with 1inch grid pattern then took it to staples to and made a 100 copies. I think it was $16 for the 100. Then I place a small 1/2 orange dot. For further out I have 2" dots as well. Can see these fairly well at longer distances. Cheap and easy.
