To think that we’d be totally helpless is an underestimation of MANkinds tenacity.

Ok I realize we might be a bit off topic here but that's kinda the way the natural flow of conversation goes. If the op is upset I apologize. But come on. Grizzly bear vs a species that has conquered faster than light travel. The comparison isn't even in the same league. Now I'm saying this with a smile on my face because I'm a fantasy and sci fi geek but do you really think an alien species that was hell bent on wiping us out or enslaving us would wage a ground war?

Lol I'm not offended in the least.

If we want to speculate, if we were (are) being visited by aliens of obviously a higher structure, I'd like to see them bring:

1. Advanced technologies to share.
2. Medical advances (cures for disease).
3. Unlock the full potential of the human race.

Oh, and a ride in their spaceship.

I'd prefer not to be incinerated or eaten.

You WOULD think they’d be pretty far advanced.....until they crash a few into the desert. ( Couldn’t resist)

I would have to defer to the recently departed Mr Hawking and point out our own history. Whenever humans discovered a new land inhabited by technologically inferior people we conquered them and took their resources. I would like to believe that they would be benevolent but I'm also afraid that they might be as greedy, self centered, and tribal as we are. I hope we never find out until we are on even ground so to speak.

I personally don't believe we've ever been visited by aliens. Let's look at this logically.

Extra-terrestrial travel to Earth involves an astounding number of variables to be considered, and criteria to be met including:

- The rate of star formation in the Galaxy.
- The number of those star systems that formed planets.
- The number of those systems that have planets with stable orbits.
- The number of those planets that are suitable for life.
- The number of those planets suitable for life that have actually formed life.
- The number of those planets that formed life that evolved into intelligent life.
- The number of those planets that have evolved intelligent life that developed advanced space travel.
- The number of those planets that have developed advanced space travel that exist concurrently with our own civilization.
- The number of those planets with intelligent life/civilizations that exist concurrently with our own that are close enough to make the time/expense of travelling to our planet worth while.

You get the idea. If aliens are going through all the trouble to come here, I doubt they're just gonna look around and leave. Maybe I'm just a party pooper, but I'm not buyin' it.

All this talk reminds me of the "Hungry are the Damned" episode of Simpsons...

I was guidin for Gary Vince for mtn goat in northern BC.

Myself and my hunter had to spend the night on the mountain. Big feller was from North Carolina.

What him and I witnessed that September night, on the side of the mountain, is absolutely unexplainable.

No we never were abducted, or all that crap, but it was unreal.
Jeff has never said a word, so I will not either bein dubbed bat shat crazy, but we saw what we saw.

I would think any civilization that has conquered the stars has also corrected any food shortage issues.

If The Earth is the only plant in the Universe with life on it, that would be a terrible waste of space.

He was arguing the same point you just made lmao. He's stating it is highly unlikely we've been visited and provided reasons for the statement.

Reading is hard.

Like others said. You can't drop that and not tell what happened. I remember a few years back we had a thread of strange things we saw while in the outdoors. Some of the stories guys had almost made me think twice about going deep in the woods.
Nothing would shock us anymore I don't think.

Almost think it's time to run a thread like that again. Was such a great read.
