Default How long to get RPAl back?

I received a letter from RCMP that said my RPAL renewal was denied until I send in proof of range membership.

I've never had to do this before so never thought of it.

How have the wait times been lately? I need to pick up some new guns.
Does anyone know about how long it should take to get back?

Mine took about an extra week once the RCMP contacted me and I sent them a copy of my membership card.

Am friend of mine had the exact same issue (not having included a range membership copy).

He got the exact same response as you did - He followed up with a phone call, got in touch with a specific person and emailed a scan of the range to the person to insert it in the file and once approved, stamped or whatever by the CFO had his renewal back in the space of a week or so.

Glad to see the CFO is still overstepping their bounds and making up laws.

For future reference, you don’t need a range membership in order to have an RPAL. Their refusal can easily be challenged in court, it’s been won in Ontario, but no challenge has made it to court in Alberta yet since they always cave once they know you’re fighting it

Who’s got the means or the finances to fight such a battle?

Bold talk when it isn’t your time or money on the line.

We get to play at the table, with the cards the Feds deal us. So far all we've only got Jokers and Duces in our hand.

For the OP.
It took about 2 weeks to get my RPAL after I got the snotogram from the CFO.
Their fax wouldn’t work, and I had to involve my MP’s office to get an email address.
Which was:
cfpcfounit@rcmp-grc.gc.ca

Include your application reference number in your email.

Exactly, it's nothing but harassment, but the CFO knows that most people will comply with their demand, rather than spend the time and money to contest their demand. I actually attached proof of my membership to my renewal application, but the CFO still played that game. When I informed him that I had attached the proof, his excuse was that someone else must have detached it and misplaced it.

By default now after having the same letter sent out ....I just include a range mbership at time of renewal to expedite the process, even though they never specifically ask for it at time of renewal...eventually they will.

There’s no such means if you renew electronically. And last time (5 yrs ago) when I renewed with paper, I attached my proof of membership to my application. I still received the snotogram.

It’s a game they play, and there’s no way to get a leg up on the SOB’s

Just wait till Good Hale roles out their changes, in a few weeks, wouldnt surprise me if they will ask for proof of going to the range.

Renewed mine over the confuser last year I think I had it back within a couple of weeks. Don't remember having to give them a range membership

It seems not everyone gets the snotogram. I know of one friend that had his RPAL in about 3 weeks when he renewed online, with no membership info provided.

And also is yours a RPAL?

When you’ve got a restricted registration tied to your licence, expect, some fun fun fun.

Yessir. I don't know if it had something to do with my atc.

My first atc was 10 business days but I hand delivered my application to cfo office in Edmonton. Atc renewal took awhile. Don't know why other then I was permitted for bc as well.

Here's a question. Do you guys use your rural address or land description? My last 2 purchases I've asked the cfo what they would prefer. They couldn't answer so rather then make things more confusing I've just been using my land description.

Don't have any more restricted fire arms so lost my r possession, if I want to buy another hand gun I was told I would have to start at the bottom again, had r possession for over 50 yrs. So much for another handgun and they wonder why there is so many illegal guns out there, Just my thought's.

Just having an RPAL isn’t cause for the CFO to ask about a range membership.
It’s when you purchase and have a restricted firearm that they get all up in your grill about the membership stuff.
