Default Long term storage

Say a guy was going on an extended holiday, and didn’t want to come back to rusted guns knives etc.
What would be the best way to store them, given that it could be a humid environment.
Anyone with experience ? Or a thought on the idea?
Just wondering.

A good wipe down with oil should last a year or so. Cosmoline or grease wouldn't hurt depending on how long your gone. Possibly even remove the wood stocks if you feel it is necessary. Store in an airtight container containing an oxygen absorbent. Pelican cases work well but those make your own food saver bags work well too if you don't suck them too tight. Burry in a secret location as required so the government cant find them

How about greasing them up, buy an 11” x 50’ sealer bag roll, cut bag to required lengths and vacuum seal.

Careful if you are using a desiccant - the little sugar like bags that keep moisture away - it can cause wood to shrink. I'm think Oil them up and let them be.
