Log Haul on North Fork Road to North Ram River
Folks,
Attended a meeting this past week hosted by Sundre Forest Products [ SFP] who operate the Forest Management Area west of Rocky Mountain House.
SFP will be hauling approximately 28 loads of logs per day from the Gap Lake compartment to the Main Line Road. This 8 km. section of road is part of the access to the North Ram River via that North Fork Road.
This section of road starts @ 52 19 44.6N 115 37 26 50W and ends at 52 18 11N 115 49 06.17W. This is the narrowest section of this road and dust will be an issue.
Be careful out there.

Don,
Will there be mandatory call out on VHF radios for this road?
If so, do you know the frequency?

Peter,
I don't know of anyone who owns one of the VHF radios except for logging employees. I have no idea of the frequency.

I know some of the BC logging roads it's mandatory whether your a logging truck driver or not. They usually have a sign at the beginning of the road. Nonetheless, those trucks fly down those roads, so be careful if you are on that road.

I'm serious. I travel the big stone lots and all you hear on ladd 1 is the pass creek road. Our guys don't even put their radios on ladd 1 anymore.
But ya the north fork is gonna be crazy, the loggers are nuts and will drive down the centre of the road and push anyone else into the ditch

That place is a zoo at the best of times, lookout now I guess. My last trip was my LAST trip out there, even had to pack out beer cans some loser left on the river bank, wow. Road access totally destroys these once beautiful areas.

One could always take Hwy 11 to Nordegg then South on the FTR and back east from the North Ram Bridge. You'd miss a lot of the gong show in there.
