When your just the grunt of the operation you don't get rich, it's the owner of the operation that makes the money

Nope, it's the inflated sale of the "tickets" that will make the current crop rich.

Inflated sale? lol It's business 101. A business will sell for what it is worth. Usually 2-3 years to pay it off.
Like posted the other day lots of WT tags for under $10K. A WT hunt sells for $5500-$7K US a hunt. I would say that is not inflated prices do you?
Do you expect them to sell a business for less?
The issue is most people don't have money saved up for a down payment.

An owner will always make more money. They do twice the work or more in most cases and take the risk of owning a business.
I've never known a guide to complain about his paycheck. Doesn't seem too hard to find guides to work either so it must not be that bad. You got to pay decent to get good guides....

Good old Apos
I could spend the the nite and into the wee hrs going on and on about the Apos old boys club
But .... I won't
I've been to the Apos meetings, conventions and trade shows and blah blah blah
I was an Apos outfitter/member for 17 yrs
How can we expect a self promoted, self governed self disciplined organization run by a board of directors who all own and operate self serving for profit privately run companies that have environmental, ecological, recreational and most importantly to them economical impacts that are all based on a crown owned resource (wildlife)
Never mind local hunting opportunities, tag allocation and access/permission issues I know all too well
If I sound like I have an axe to grind ... I do ,Apos is out of control !
To many dirt bags out their under the guise of being "Professional"outfitter/guides and way to many experiences I could share of slob outfitters and rogue guides ,two of which started this topic
Maybe if they just drop the P in Apos we wouldn't expect anything more or less from their president and voting members
So speak up ,it's time for change

It sure sounds like you have them down there with lawyers, politicians, & journalists!!!! I don't disagree for the most part. Most of those that I know locally are decent people and I respect that. I have also had my share of run-ins with arsehole outfitters, where I am told that it is their exclusive territory, even to the point where I was told that they had exclusive permission on my land, and tried to kick me out!!! I will converse with them, and depending on their attitude, I have been known to tell them and continue on my way.

Guides / Outfitters are like anything in life... they range from outstanding to pond scum. I know outstanding outfitters with the highest degree of ethics (Jim Hole Jr owner of Classic Outfitters) down to the lowest form of life (won't say because too many of you know him and likely think he's a good dude, but if caught for his shenanigans, he'd have to go back to his day job for good).
I am a realist, and hopefully a bit of an optimist, so I don't paint an entire industry with the same brush.

And you are correct in that there are many reputable outfitters, that follow the rules. So either these good outfitters are honestly trying to improve their organization, but are being out voted by a majority of outfitters that want to maintain the corrupt organization that now exists, or the reputable outfitters aren't making an effort to vote in good people to lead them, and to rebuilt APOS into a reputable organization.

APOS began life that way. Self interest comes to mind. Those members that have genuine integrity and professional attitudes soon see themselves on the outside looking in. No wonder so many of them are disgusted with that organization. As to self discipline .. there are a lot of dominos in that row, so who wants to start the purge ?

You didn't upset me, I was just asking you a question. 2 years ago we had a guy on here that knew everything about everybody else and made allegations with no proof. When asked for his real name he cried and ran away, just figured if you had the balls to call somebody by name a criminal you should have big enough balls to tell people who you are. That's all. If that wasn't you, then no worries.
And I'm neither a member nor ambassador for APOS, my opinion here is as a resident of Alberta speaking with peers I share some concerns with, and others I disagree with.
Chad is not my president, although I do know him. Never had any issues whatsoever with him, and he was always friendly and polite with me.

Loaded topic with many sides for sure, I don't agree with the self regulating process of the society, Foxes cant investigate nor regulate the killings in the henhouse, that should change. We can argue the benefit of the industry, tourism and what business benefits, in the end, it does nothing for me or the average Albertan hunter. If APOS wants to keep outfitting moving forward, they may need to revise their image.
