Default Goldeye on the Oldman

The goldeye are rising on the oldman river in the Lethbridge area!!!

As soon as the sun started to set they were hitting on a Royal Coachman steady! It took a few long distance releases before I got the hang of keeping the Goldeye on the hook. In the couple hours that I was fishing, I managed to land a couple of them. Both around 10 - 12 inches.

Now I need to figure out a good way to smoke them.

Good to hear. I want to teach my daughter how to catch fish on the Oldman, any hints would be appreciated in a PM!

Default smoking

I remember reading long ago, that because Goldeye are so oily, it was best to freeze them for a couple months or so before you smoke them, they used to be a big delicacy in the railroad dining cars.
