Default Savage 1899 30-30

Hey all,
I just recieved my dad's Savage 1899 in a 30-30. I was wondering if any of you out there would be able to give me a manufacturer date range. The serial # is 76 . xxx. The rifle has a steel butt plate. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

IF the serial number is 76.xxx. and the dots and x's refer to numbers, your gun was made in 1951 or later.

How many digits in the serial number?

If only the x's refer to numbers (if your gun has a 5 digit serial number) it was made in 1908

Hey Hunt,
Only the x's are digits. The serial number is 5 digits. Thanks for the reply.
