Bioconcepts DHC-30 question
So, I, along with a bunch of other people bought one of those large metal framed, plastic containers, with the intention of using it to feed a water trough at the far end of our property. Described on the label as a downhole catalyst for paraffin control, requires personal protection C, but doesn't sound terribly toxic. I've rinsed it out and left it open to air. This thing safe to use for potable water or should I have concerns ? Thanks.

Can you steam it? I always steamed the totes and triple rinse(like pesticide/herbicide jugs)

I wouldn't use that barrel. It was a biocide wouldn't be worth the possible risk. Even with steaming and cleaning.
I would not hesitate to use a acid, gel or friction reducer barrels.

Sounds like what I frequently hear referred to as a 1000 liter 'tote' Grizz. I understand that new liners are available for those things. I have a plan to put in about 3 of the things at home for capturing water to use in the garden. Wish I had input on the chemical yours held but I don't.

If you know the name of the product, you should be able to get the MSDS from the company website. It will tell you about the health risks associated with the contents.

Thanks guys, probably take it to the car was and wash it out with hot water and soap, followed by more rinsing.

I should think DEF totes would be ok to use with a wash as well. only chem in those is water and ammonia. Likely more than a few of those around.

On a slightly related note, years back I had lucked into some 15 gallon drums that were being disposed of at a clients location. The drums are thick translucent poly like a milk jug or tote liner and they only held laundry detergent for a large hotel. They're plenty strong enough to stand on (for a 180lb guy anyways) and I scooped about 8 of them. Just noting this for the scavengers here who might want to make nice with a hotel maintenance guy!

Dairy farm disinfectant comes in similar containers, nice handy size.
