Default What is a Honey Burn?

I heard of this honey burn for your bear bait, but i have no idea what it is? if it's exactly what it sounds like, would burning grease be good too? we are baiting new locations and had one bear come in but he hasnt been back? any tips would be much appreciated!

the honey burn is supposed to be amazing. just throw a pot of honey on a stoce or heat source and burn it unitl you got clouds of whit smoke rolling out thats supposed to stick to the tees and spread the scent, Dont worry about right now everyone is slow, picks uip in a few weeks, Put up trail cameras if you gotum.

Those sterno liquid fuel jel cans work well.

I used a coleman burner once......took me 98 weeks to clean the burnt honey off of it.......

Ok Im exaggerating a bit.....87 weeks to be exact.

Would also be careful regarding the fire Ban....could be a very expensive bear rug...

If you use a honey burn would that be considered baiting?

That is what they are doing - setting out bait for bears.

Hmm Baiting.. Not in my mind, no more so than those sticks some guys are burning looking for deer or leaving around some sort of buck lure in a drip bag.

Phone F/W get thier take on it.

I have always wondered why you can not use a scented lure in a bait ban area while fishing, yet we allow scents to be used while deer hunting! Seems like a conflict of interest to me.
