Vancouver Where to stay?
After the Calgary Gun Show on Friday the Mrs. and I are heading to Vancouver for the Easter weekend. Kind of a spur of the moment trip. Going to be hitting up some site seeing and hitting the trendy shops to make her happy. Got an appointment to look at a new to me boat Saturday and planning on catching the Canucks vs. Chicago game on Sunday night. Looking for any recommendations
on where to stay while there.
Thx in advance

Take a look at the Hampton Inn & Suites. They are right across the road from BC Place. And only a short walk up the hill, 2 or 3 blocks, to downtown shopping. Nice rooms and when I stayed there a few years back the rates were very reasonable.
Ok, I just checked their rates, about $250. That is double what I paid. Nice Hotel but you can do better. I have also stayed at another place up on Burrard, I can't remember the name right now, it was not mainstream but it was very reasonably priced and I had a suite. Also very posh. If I can find it I'll update.

Hampton is a great place. We paid about 150/night for a room in December for a week. Great location and service. Awesome rooftop deck for having a coffee.

Fairmont waterfront. $300/night. Great views, downtown. Guaranteed you'll get some action.

Take a quick look at VRBO for Vancouver or North Vancouver. I've used it quite a few times and have never been disappointed, in fact I'm going to list my place in Haida Gwaii with them in the future.

The Sylvan Hotel is in a great downtown location and right on the water - reasonable rates, too. Or B&B it?

Do you mean The Sylvia, on Beach Ave? Beautiful hotel...unfortunately it's sold out Easter Weekend. Very hard to get weekend rooms in the spring summer.

I hope you're joking. The Bosman? Seriously? Two blocks from hooker stroll? It was turned into a rehab centre. I didn't think it was a hotel anymore.
I stayed there back in the 90's and it was gross back THEN!!
#Gross!!

Thanks Dave - yep, that's what I'd meant. Great spot; too bad it's booked.

Sounds like the place my sister found for us once. Convention in town and a last resort. turned out to be a home for merchant sailors passing through. Definitely an adventure.

Great hotel. Best location in city. Right on English bay beach. But yes, booked up far in advance.
If you still want to be in tat general area but go cheaper, there are some decently priced places a few blocks up Robson street, which is the main shopping street up from English Bay.

The Fairmont Airport is a great hotel. The airport is connected to the Skytrain terminal and the Skytrain system will take you directly to most places you'd want to go. it's a very fast Skytrain ride to downtown. The view from the room is cool, you look right onto the tarmac so you see planes taking off and landing and the sound proofing is great so you won't hear any engine noise through the glass.
If you want to be right downtown, then the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is a very convenient location.

That's the place. Obviously been upscaled since we were there, but it is a nice location, right across from the beach.

River Rock Casino/Resort.
Seriously, it is cheaper than cab far when you consider the Rapid Transit is at the front door to YVR and the train goes down town in 18 minutes every 12 minutes.
Food is Good and again shopping is 18 minutes down town .
The boat is in Coal Harbor?
Again 18 minutes away, but it being a Long Weekend two things going against you is the weekend rates and it maybe busy with Americas as the RRR is advertising 6 times an hour on a Bellingham radio station.
You Call .

We always stay at the River Rock when we get into Vancouver. We looked to go out there around Easter too but rooms were about $600/night!! Decided to head down to Mexico instead. $500 return, for a direct flight out of Calgary!

Reserved through Hotwire a few times without knowing what hotel we were getting, only that it was a 4 or 5 star hotel for a great rate and wound up at the pan pacific which was super nice.

You won't be disappointed with your choice, it's a beautiful hotel with plenty to keep you amused around it.
