Crappy deal for sure, but there was a lot of abuse. Maybe not as much as other areas but the ranchers had put up with a lot. The big jeep clubs coming down I suspect were the final nail in the coffin.

Lots of people can enjoy themselves with foot access. It's not really shut down then, just some restrictions.

Was trying to do some research on grazing associations and the different types of access they allow. I found a whole list of associations in Alberta but Polehaven was not listed. Are they classified as something different?

Is the pasture 100% deeded land? I could see the wheeled access concerns due to fire & damage, horses seem harsh given they're used to manage the cattle.

Not to mention that atvs will still get used as well. Tough to carry fence post, rolls of wire and fence stretchers, staples and hammer and stretchers on a horse. Unless they use a covered wagon.

My experience in BC is that people in general respect the land more. I see less land destroyed and turned into mud bogs and users stick to trails maintained by public groups. I have seen a couple areas with litter but don't run into destroyed land near as much as in Alberta.

sure doesn't sound like what I saw near Lumby. BC has as many pigs or more than we do.

Thanks for the info Kanon. Been looking for info on the area but not too much there. In this case there are multiple leaseholders and there is a big sign posted at the gate with info on who to call.
