If you had it in your luggage at US Customs going through the airport on an international flight ?

What do you think US Customs would say ?

The answer will be the same for mail delivery !

Maybe give Canada Post, UPS and/or Purolator a looking into on their website as it may be outlined.

I've also been told that packing forbidden foods in marijuana helps fool the dogs.

Maybe go have your morning coffee and check back in when not so grumpy!

It was a simple question, if it angers you so much, maybe just don't open the thread.

Thanks moose, I guess I'll make a batch of happy brownies and tuck the jerky in between.

Failure to DECLARE meat products when importing or shipping into the USA can result in a Fine of $10,000 USD ,

meats from countries with confirmed history of mad cow ,chronic wasting disease, parpoxvirus etc have special exclusions,,,,

If common sense questions and the resulting factual conclusion makes YOU angry ? Stay in bed yourself .

Send a small amount properly declared and see what happens. If there is no problem send more.

I'm only sending about a pound in a vacuum sealed pack, and it will be clearly labeled.

So many laws who knows. I don't see it being a problem. We take all of out wild game to a processor in North Dakota ( I am in southern MB). We don't even skin the animal, just bring it down there whole. The MB conservation office requires we buy a $20 export permit (just a money grab). On the U.S. side we do fill out some paper work. It is stupid and just depends who is working at customs that day. Sometimes they ask for the permit; other times they don't and just say go ahead! I would just call your closest border crossing and ask them. Better safe than sorry.

My son and I were backpacking the PCT in the heat of Southern California where you try to have the lightest pack possible. We met a Young hiker sitting in the shade of a manzanita tree. He had come to the trail by bus from the east and there are stop checks with drug sniffing dogs along the way. He was proud to pull a 5 lb jar of peanut butter from his pack and show us how he had hidden his stash inside to fool the dogs.

Last year I came up the Pacific Coast Highway (101) and came across a roadside Jerky Shop somewhere in Oregon. Ooh, damn good stuff, so I bought 4 lbs of their vacuum sealed product. It was sitting on the front passenger seat when I got to the border crossing. Absolutely no problem bringing it in.

Relative got a 350. fine just for forgetting to declare an apple. Homeland security has NO sense of humor.

They DO SO HAVE A SENSE IF HUMOUR !!

I have a life long friend , he was 15 years US Customs and a Border Protection and now the last 11 years with Homeland Security ,,,

He has a FANTASTIC sense of humour,,,

He has all kinds of great stories about axx hats he arrested for smuggling anything from fruit and meat to handguns ,and drugs up their butts, and radioactive materials,

He laughs his axx off with me as he tells about those arrests and seizures ,,,

And when he meets a real smart axx , there is always a cavity search, even if if results in NO arrest, , , eewwww lol

A few years ago we drove through to Montana and had a bag of beef jerky from the gas station, unopened and made in the states. We weren't able to bring it in to the US with us. Didn't make any sense at all even after showing it was made in the states. Hope you find the answer you are looking for.
