Default Layoff bug

Well I caught the layoff bug after 9 years with my former company, I did get a substantial severance which does help a lot, next move BC I have a job opportunity in Victoria and lots of family there. I've had enough of the boom / bust living, this seems like the best opportunity for me and my family right now.

Good luck. I don't blame you. Boom and bust is stressful on the bust cycle.

Best of luck, I've been bouncing between BC and AB for 20 years.....it seems the two provinces are always out of sync, when one's booming the other is busting.

If you got a good package, make the best of it and don't look back. I work with a guy who took an early retirement package and he's happy as a clam. And saved a young persons job to boot.

our work laid off 2/3rds of our staff so far, and just this week they changed our schedule from 15 on, 6 off to 21 on 7 off, with a 25% cut to job bonus.

3 guys have quit already, and like 5 are searching for other jobs. Almost half of our current staff is leaving/left.

Good luck! I don't know how we haven't laid people off yet.

I have been laid off twice within the last year. Now its time to find an employer that won't hold working in the patch against me.
This employment climate blows.
