You should have posted that picture to the bc hunting site ( hbc'srs) ,,,they could have told you the sex of the bear and what direction ( NSEW) the bear was going,,,,,

I would hope they could tell which way the bear was headed.

That's a 7 foot ish bear. Adult bear for an interior grizzly.

Decent male or a big female

It was an un easy feeling all week . We were hunting moose for a week and every area we went into, his track seems just hours old. This was one hunt we did not split up on .One evening when we split apart and my partner seen him (silver tip) walking across a clear cut ,and when the bear came up to a log pile, instead of going around ,he just walked up and over.
Judging by his track ,I would say he was an 8 ft bear.
I wish I had a Tag !
Maybe next year.

That is a respectable bruin for sure. Pretty sure though that it's a black bear, not a grizzly. Check out the diagram showing the differences here:

Here's one that came though our place mid November NW part of 357, missed my camera by a bit so no pics of bear. The print is of the front pad in the back pad - track is 8.1/4" across

That would be a great bear TuffBuff. With any luck he'll travel a little further NW and one of my lucky hunters will get to "make his acquaintance" sometime in May

Heres one of the best pics i've taken of a grizzly track. Super fresh and in just a skiff of snow. Can see all the cracks in his pads. Gives you a good idea of how much flatter the toe pattern is compared to a black. Can also see how far out the front claws can be.

I also added a pic of some scat from a bear, possibly the same bear, same area any way. If you look close you can see the toes of a deer or something.

That would be one freak of a black bear !

Don't just base your black bear guess on the shorter claw marks either guys. The picture was taken late in the year after 6 months of digging. Many wear their claws down a fair bit by then

I believe this is a giant black bear print beside my size 12 boot. It had rained the day before and washed it out a bit but It was early spring and I should have seen some claws off of the front pad if it were grizzly. The area holds both species. I was told the lenght of a bear can be roughly determined by measuring the front pad, converting the inchs to feet and adding a ft. 7 inch pad =8ft bear.

Heres a booner grizzly duke! Lol

Seen a monster this spring only about 1 k from the BC border, he was as tall as a horse and ran as fast as one too, the sow just stayed and grazed. He must have known a hunting season or too. He was huge!

Pretty cool pics. I know all too well the pucker factor when finding some big fresh tracks while hiking to those back country fields. Came across this track around 8 years ago. My boot next to it is a size 13, -72 sorel. Abig boot that looks small there lol

Saw tracks from this guy everytime I drove the forestry reserve road last year , didnt dare put up a camera as I knew I would be donating it to some thoughtful thief . Would like to have a pic of the maker .
