Default Diesel engine heater

Hi folks,
Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction on where I could buy one of these units in Edmonton for my pickup?

Just put a block heater in it, about $1500. cheaper and just uses hydro and not your fuel, Just my thoughts.

It has a block heater. Doesn't help much when there's nothing to plug it into in the middle of the bush.

I have friends with service trucks and these heaters are the cats meow. My next diesel will have one, then when out hunting in Nov or sledding in January, a little time setting and you have a nice warm block to come back to.

I have an espar in one of my pickups, it uses 0.6L per hour....pretty cheap to have an engine a whole lot warmer than a block heater will ever do at startup

Have one on my Sprinter van for hauling dirt bikes and road trips.

I'd never own a deisel without one.

Eskimo refrigeration sells Webasto. Have one on a 855 Cummins. -30C and a two hour run has warm air in the cab as soon as the motor fires up. The timer is nice, set it for 2hours before you want to fire up and things are toasty warm. Be careful of draining your start batteries and they can be finicky if not run for long periods of time. I'd rate them a 8/10.

Proheat is another brand I've heard good things about.

proheat on a 5.9 cummins. As said above wouldn't own a oil burner without one in this climate. Our winters are murder on cold diesels. Installs are easy for a handy guy.

The Webasto tsl17 is a decent heater.

Hillbillyreefer alluded to this but I'll say it clearly; remember to run your heater once a month at least, even through the summer. They don't handle sitting for extended periods well.

They sure are nice and they work real well.
Just wish they were not so damn expensive. I'll keep using my block heater on a small genset. Works good and I can use the genset for other things.

When I installed mine, I pointed the espar exhaust right at the bottom of the oil pan. Warm oil as well

That's what I did too, it works remarkably well even on a 20l pan.

They are the best around.

I have had experience with both the Webasto and the Espar. Both are good but I think I would lean to the Espar.

We installed a Webasto on my sons Cummins when he was working at Ft Mac.He loved it it had a timer on it so it would cut in 1hr before he got of work.It would be blowing hot air as soon as he started it.

Default Webasto TSL17 heaters are the best.

Webasto TSL17 heaters are the best, with the Espar D5 a close second... just ask Eskimo Refrigeration in Edmonton.

Get the most common you can unit you can find, as parts and servicing are easier to obtain. The TSL17 is the most common unit used in this part of the world, and for good reason. I used a TSL17 in a Mack Tri-drive hauling 80,000 lb loads of pipe up to Kearl Lake last year, and it performed flawlessly.

So, I purchased four of them brand new in the box for all of my diesel vehicles... if the TSL17 can heat up a 3000 lb engine block and get it going in the dead of winter, imagine how well it will heat up your diesel engine in your pickup truck.

Even in -40 degree temps, one hour with the TSL17 at full blast will have your engine topped out at 170 degrees.

I can sell you one if you wish at a discount.

I have the Thermocall accessory package for my Webasto. I can start it from my smart phone. Espar is a good quality unit but it lacks remote starting capability.

SD 1797:

Please call me again and let me know if you got your Webasto or Espar heater.

I still can not send private messages as of yet.

I can supply you and your friend with Webasto TSL17 heaters and Programmer/Timers.
