Prentice just quit
Prentice was elected in his riding ( Mine and I did not vote for him)
and just announced he is stepping down as leader and stepping aside as MLA.
I was looking forward to reminding him weekly of the mess he made.

Wow, that's pretty harsh considering you haven't a clue really who I am, where I've been and what I've done. I guess you just know better...or maybe not. I bet you'd really like me if you met me in person, can I bring you a drink?

As for '2%' not being significant, for some companies it makes a big difference, the bigger question is how many jobs do people with your attitude create vs those to whom that 2% may be important?
In the long run a short term NDP will hopefully be a good thing, it will hopefully give the Wildrose time to get their act together, and wise up Albertans to the sheer folly of an NDP farce,

Listen. I've worked with public companies for most of my career. These companies do what they are tasked to do and that is look out for shareholders first and foremost. Fair enough but they have no loyalty to AB. They don't get to where they are because the are stupid or poor negotiators and game players. If you are an AB'er and care about the future of AB you would do well to keep that in mind when weighing pros and cons. Oil will not be around forever. What legacy do you want?

Here here.
What I should have said earlier is everyone should thank Stelmach, Redford, Prentice, Smith and Mandel for good measure

X2, Elkster. Fear mongering is one of the reasons the PC's got tossed.

Oh you are so right
Redford never spent a minute in Washington over Keystone.
I suppose government policies don't affect business climates.
Keep talking

Keystone is a business deal not a govt endeavor -well except for the REQUIRED US Govt approval.
Keystone is dead without approval of a government, but this has nothing to do with govt-You smart

Why wouldn't he step down. Alberta just voted in the NDP !!!! Why would he want his name associated in any way with whats going to happen in the very near future.

My opinion.
Yes, NDP is NOT the best political party for me. And I don't belive its best for AB either.
But this is exactly what is needed to fix this province. The NDP's platforms won't fix it. But booting those PC loosers out and exposing them and every single thing they screwed up, every single back room deal etc.. This is what will fix this province.
We might have a rough or different 4 years.. but having AB clearly show they are done with PC b/s and havving them OUT is the only way to start to fix this province.
I voted NDP. Again, their platform isn't best for me or AB. But its the only way to start to sort this poop out.

The place I work for had a bunch of old, lazy, and entitled people running the place. The place sucked to work at. Moral and productivity were at a all time low.
New people were brought in, many of them younger and full of new ideas. Sure they did not have the experience the old cronies had but you know what? The place turned around and now is a great place to work. Production is at all time highs and the old management that managed to hang on is finally getting with the program. New people, new ideas, new hope.

Your take on public companies is absolutely correct. When I invest - I expect to get a return on my money.
If the NDP start doing what they have done in other provinces - companies will start to withdraw the development of their business and go where they can achieve a better return on their investment. Individuals with the wearwithall to do likewise - will follow.
I care about Alberta - but I am not about to suffer financially to keep living here. Fortunately, I am in a position where I have several other options. Many do not.
Oil is a resource in Alberta that will be around for the forseeable future. There is approximately a 200 year supply in northern Alberta at the current production rates. Oil will be part of Alberta's legacy for a long time to come - generations. Why waste the opportunity?
