Willow Valley
I haven,t been to this event for about 10 years. I was impressed with the amount of quality trophies on display. It was great to see high profile cabinet minister Ted Morton as a guest speaker acknowledge the importance of organizations such as the Willow Valley Trophy Club and inform hunters this government is approachable on issues that concern us There were other speakers that discussed issues we have with CWD and habitat. There was also a tribute and stories of 3 of the founding members of this club that are no longer with us. The volunteers did a great job of putting this event together.

JRS good pics
Did you happen to notice if any of the 180 plus rams came from south of WMU 406. Just wondering if the same old same old 165 class rams from 400-404 were at the show.

Re: JRS good pics
I'm not sure where the two big rams came from. The one hunter was from Cochrane but thats all that was mentioned. Speaking of southern big rams though, over christmas my buddy saw a monster hanging out in WMU400. Said it was the biggest ram he's ever seen by far. I may go searching to see how big it really is. The show was still great though!

I wonder if your buddy saw one that was shot recently
You should phone blairmore or pc F&W offices and find out how many rams were taken by subsistence hunters. I know of three that were taken and only the heads were removed. I heard of six others most of these were registered all from 400 subsistence yum yum. I was told by a Oil field employee a group of six rams were shot (the entire herd) just recently must have been some good subsistence hunting. Easy access just isn't good for sheep. I hope you find that cranker of a ram, just to prove my belief wrong that there is almost no chance of harvesting a 180 plus ram in WMUs which are easily accessed by subsistence hunters.

Bruceba define junk
What is junk. And how does anything I've mentioned not have anything to do with WillowValley Trophy Show. 400-404 are in Willow Valley's backyard. The show is another good indicator (other than record books) of trophy quality in those WMU's. Its obvious what the problem is.

I believe it was 215-220'', somewhere in there. Shot a few years ago down south here. (not as old as the mount looks, had something to do with a pet). Nice buck though.
As for info for joinging, i'll try to find it and post it here later.

Info for joining willow valley
Call Rocky Mountain Taxidermy in Cowley 403 628 3977, or Jim Proudfoot 628 3636 or Paul Erickson 628 2462. Its best if you buy your membership at the door however or just get someone to pick you one up at the show itself.
Mackaylake I have no idea why no one is jumping all over me for not being registered must have more constructive things to do.

"I've heard of one hunter from Cochrane whose buddy shot a REAL nice ram."
It said cochrane on the score tag and i'd consider 188'' a pretty good sheep . You only see big herds of those up around Cadomin and Jasper. If he got it anywhere near Cochrane its exceptional. The biggest ram harvested within my group of regularly visited hunting friends went 192'' and change. Theres one bigger pickup and a couple other slightly smaller around but that thing was a monster. It looks way bigger than the one at the show but had different genetic, only 4 points smaller. I love sheep hunting, can't wait to pull the trigger on my own.

If you mean the trophy night, its held in Pincher each year.
And about the ram location,
Thanks Rackmastr, i didn't manage to talk to many of the sheep hunters. Good to know.
