Default Old Echo "C" Press

An old co-worker recently gave me his reloading stuff, which I have no need for since I'm already set up.

Just curious if anyone has ever used an old press like this one before:

It's threaded for standard dies, but the shell holder is a screw on affair, not a modern snap in type. The shell holder appears to be for 30-06 head size.... there may be other shell holders in the box of stuff he gave me. Just wondering if anyone has every used a press like this? I don't need it for anything, so I was thinking about giving it to a new reloader wanting to get into the hobby if it's still a serviceable press to use.

Oh, pick me! I'll get it in working condition and learn to reload on it!

Looks like you can get an adaptor to convert it to using RCBS shellholders

A second (or more) press can be very handy to keep set up for special tasks like collet bullet pulling or hardness testing or case neck expanding or bullet sizing. It is often nice to have multiple presses so that one can be used for seating and another for crimping with a dedicated crimp die. A secondary single stage press is often needed when your primary press is a turret or progressive.

This press would not be my choice for de-priming as it does not have a hollow ram, and will probably spit primers all over the room. I would remove the priming arm as I prefer to use a hand primer.

If it was mounted to a steel plate or thick plywood for easy clamping to any table, it would be handy as a portable press for use for seating at the range or as a loaner press.

Good Luck, YMMV

I bet that would still work. Not sure how you'd hold bullets to seat them. (I reload light .223 and .204 and have chunky fingers too!)
